The Sword Mountain is Manjusri Bodhisattva's Taoist center in Nantong. Manjushri, the embodiment of wisdom and knowledge, also known as "Big Wisdom Manjusri," is the left attendant of Buddha Sakyamuni. Legend says that the First Emperor of Qin once tried a sword in this mountain, thus the name. At the north gate of the Sword Mountain, there is a lying statue of Manjusri Bodhisattva, 7.8 meters high and 13.8 meters long including the base. It is the only large recumbent statue in China. The style is elegant and smooth, simple but solemn. It was carved with bluestone imitation by a craftsman at a steep price.
