It is said that the Katsuno Wharf of Otaru Port was named because it is located at the mouth of this river. Previously, there was a sake brewery upstream and a facility called Sakaisenkan, so I was able to tour the sake brewing.

The origin of the mountain 々 surrounding the back of Otaru city is the foot of Mt. okobachi in the west, and it is from the Okuzawa water source in Tenjin to the Otaru canal. It flows almost parallel to Okuzawa Hondori, which extends from Okuzawa Cross Street to the mountain direction. Once along the river, iron factories, sake brewing factories, furniture factories, food companies, rubber companies, etc. lined up, and it became the basis point of Otaru development.
