A river that moisturizes the water source of Otaru from Mt. Oko as a water source and then flows into Otaru Port. It is said that the Katsuno Wharf of Otaru Port was named because it is located at the mouth of this river. The origin of the mountain 々 surrounding the back of Otaru city is the foot of Mt. okobachi in the west, and it is from the Okuzawa water source in Tenjin to the Otaru canal. It flows almost parallel to Okuzawa Hondori, which extends from Okuzawa Cross Street to the mountain direction. Once along the river, iron factories, sake brewing factories, furniture factories, food companies, rubber companies, etc. lined up, and it became the basis point of Otaru development. Mitsuuma, North Honor, Hirano Bread, etc. retain the remnants of the Otaru brand. Currently, Maei ... near the estuary.
