Huayan Temple, located in the southwest of Datong Ancient City, was built in Liaozhongxi seven years (1038 AD), named after the Buddhist classic "Huayan Sutra". It has a prominent status and is both the temple of the royal family of Liao. It was destroyed in the war and was rebuilt in Jintianyu for three years (1140). Huayan Temple sits west to east, and more than 30 single buildings such as Shanmen, Puguang Palace, Daxiong Palace, Bojia Tibetan Palace, Huayan Pagoda are arranged on the two main axes in the north and south, with a strict layout.
