Dacheng Temple is a palace-style main building and the core of Confucius Temple. It is one of the three largest ancient temples in China. During the Tang Dynasty, it was known as Wenxuan King Hall—with five rooms. In the Tianxi fifth year of the Song Dynasty, it was moved to this site and expanded to seven rooms. In the Chongning third year of the Song Dynasty, the emperor Huizong Zhao Ji quoted "Mencius:" "What Confucius said is the accumulation of all the great ones (Dacheng)." and renamed it "Dacheng Temple."
