Yuanjin Zen Temple entrance: It is the most beautiful place to take photos in the whole Zhujiajiao, with a very open view and boats coming and going, the water view is more open than Wuzhen and Xitang. Ancient town night view: From the evening when the lights are on to the red lanterns hanging up and the lights are on, the beautiful night view is not inferior to the daytime! In general, tourists are concentrated in Beida Street, Caohe Street, Dongjing Street, and Xijing Street, while other places are less crowded. The area around Fuxing Bridge and Zhonghe Bridge is less crowded, so it retains the authentic ancient town life and is more lively.JesseKoskinen4

With we all caught up in the fast paced environment, there's no better place for a quick rehab than relapsing our time back to (g)olden days. To go visit that place, where was life was mucb slower and everyone is at their own pace of doing things. The life that we envy about. With very well connected metro station, Shanghai is in no way short of multi cultural places. This is another face of Shanghai, on preserving it's culture. On the first day, go to 朱家角 the water town is situated at the last but one stop in line 17. You have to walk a little bit to go there and get into the town. After that just cross the big bridge to see all the old buildings, also there's always boatman with their mini boats riding people below the bridge. It's such a sight to watch. Then keep going on to your right side, to go the very end to visit the garden temple. Then do a straight opposite side walk to go to the start of the boating place where can pay around 50¥ to have a ride. On the way there are lot of 小吃 to enjoy. The next day you can go to the Qibao old town which again has a perfect Metro connectivity at Line 9 (Qibao station). Have a look around this wonderful place and you can even dress up like traditional chinese men/women. The last day have a hop on tour around yuyuan garden using sightseeing bus and later go to the Jingan temple where again there's a very old temple that provides some calm and serenity. Shanghai Zhujiajiao Ancient Town#chinatrip A small beautiful ancient Chinese village at outskirt of Shanghai, settled at the bank or Caogang river & rivulets. Many older looking Chinese houses were lined at both side of river & transportation was by boat. A lot of stone arch bridges crossed the walkway for pedestrians. Many traditional Chinese shops, restaurants & emerging modern western restaurants were there. We were delighted to see a store selling dried snakes, sea horses, scorpions & various fishes. Pig legs, chicken feet, whole baby chicken, whole pork thigh etc. in different soya sauce were on display for sale. Also called Venice of Shanghai was a good place to visit.Travela-dic3

Shanghai's water village, called the Venice of China 🚣About an hour away from Shanghai by subway is a water village called 'Zhujiajiao'‼️ Also called the Venice of China, this place is a place where you can feel the traditional atmosphere. If you choose the right time to visit, it is a travel destination where you can enjoy a leisurely time thanks to the quiet atmosphere! As expected from a place called the Venice of China, you can ride a boat on the water, but I visited after the operating hours, so I couldn't ride a boat😭 It is a perfect place to visit when you want to escape the busy city scenery while traveling in Shanghai. There are cafes and restaurants all over the street, so it's nice to sit down and enjoy the leisurely scenery of the water village🥰 If China travel becomes active again..! zhujiajie is really an amazing ancient town that stretch over large area and lakes . I love the individual shops selling various loc dishes and titbits. very authentic vibes town with lots of food selections .
Great location to understand a bit about the history of China, especially on architecture, landscape design, art, craft etc. Besides from enjoying a slow boat looking at ancient building. For those that appreciate China's different dynasty costume, especial for the ladies, can rent and take potrait photo. Lots of food shop around.
Such a nice place to enjoy a more traditional vibe in Shanghai! is quite far from the city center but you can easily spend the whole day walking around the town and it’s alleyways and canals. Views are great and of visited on weekdays is not crowded at all!
