Hugh Lane Gallery

The Hurraine Gallery is the earliest modern and Contemporary Art Gallery in Ireland. In its early days, it collected a large number of works of French painters, most of them were impressionists. Manet, Monet, Renoir and Degas. Later, Francis Bacon moved the London studio to Dublin as a whole and opened it to the public free of charge. Do not miss art fans who have time!

The Hurraine Gallery in downtown Ireland is the first gallery to collect contemporary works. Most of his early collections came from modern French painters, especially Impressionist painters.

The Hugh Lane Gallery has a very good collection of contemporary and modern art including a permanent exhibition of paintings by Francis Bacon and a reconstruction of his London studio (taken piece by piece to Dublin after his death). It is housed in the beautiful building that is Charlemont House in Parnell Square which is at the northern end of O'Connell Street. There are frequent special exhibitions and free concerts here on Sundays. Also Wednesday 'Coffee Lectures' at 11 am (entrance fee) and public lectures on some Sundays throughout the year.
