Edo-Tokyo Museum

The Edo Tokyo Museum began renovation in April 2023 and reopened in 2025. It is very convenient to come out of the Yuguo subway station. But during the current large-scale renovation, don't run for nothing.

We loved this museum very much. They recreated the whole structure of the Edo era as well as the buildings and bridges, which made the whole experience very memorable, especially for the children. A lot of exhibits (reproducts) can be touched. The old city model is really interesting. I definitely recommend you to see it.

Compared with the national treasure in the National Museum, this museum is a display of Tokyo style since the Edo era, so there are many things to touch and try, there are many interactive facilities, it is a very playable museum.

The tall museums are first-class in architecture and facilities. Suitable for slowly browsing, you can understand the details of Japanese culture and customs. Tip: Older people over 65 can buy half-price tickets with limited ID. Pupils are free.

Built in 1993, it is a museum that provides a comprehensive introduction to the history of Tokyo. The shape is modeled on the ancient Japanese elevated warehouse, divided into seven floors, with two entrances, but no matter which entrance to enter, the first visit is always the sixth floor, and then from this floor to each other to visit, and this design is precisely the uniqueness of the museum. After reaching the sixth floor, you need to pass a replica "Japan Bridge" to reach the permanent exhibition room.

To see a city or country, museums are actually the most direct and comprehensive place to go. Of course, at the Edo Tokyo Museum, I saw a lot of Chinese things. Including Japan's own life and culture, they are full of Chinese influence elements.

So far, there is absolutely no other museum with many materials and exhibits from Edo (Tokyo). If you have never been there, please go there once.
