What travelers say:

Wolvesey Castle was named after a decree of King Saxon, where the King ordered 300 wolf heads to be surrendered every year. In 1107, the castle was broken and built. After that, the grandson of William the Conqueror completed it in more than 50 years. The Archbishop of Winchester lived here in the Middle Ages. Queen Mary I and her husband Philip had breakfast here when they got married. Now the castle is open only from April to November.
