Chengdu to Xichang | Self-drive family trip, fun and not tiring, definitely worth it!
| Self-drive family trip, fun and not tiring, definitely worth it!. In April, Xichang has a pleasant climate, neither cold nor hot, with a gentle breeze, and it's very beautiful. If you want to visit Xichang, I highly recommend coming in April!
We drove from Chengdu, a journey of more than five hours. The whole way is scenic, leisurely enjoying the sights as we went. On the way, we passed through the Mud Mountain Tunnel, where the view outside the window was nice, though it was a bit like a foggy and drizzly rain.
🌈 As we approached Xichang, the world suddenly changed, no more foggy skies, but blue skies and white clouds, the sun shining brightly, clear skies, fresh air, and most importantly, the air quality was really good.
🌸 In Xichang, we stayed at the Xichang Guanhai Tingtao Art Hotel. It was like finding a treasure, very, very nice, comfortable to the extreme, whether it's the hotel location, interior environment, parking, room types, service, food, etc., all worthy of praise, and the off-season price was beautiful! The key is that it's very close to the seaside, just separated by a road. It's very close to Yinlin Beach, Jinlin Beach, Lushan Scenic Area, and Dashiban Village.
🗓 Itinerary:
Since we were with a child, we didn't want to rush through the sights or be too regimented, so we played as we pleased.
On the first day, we arrived in Xichang around three or four in the afternoon, rested for a while, and then walked to the seaside for a stroll. Walking on the sea boardwalk, the child played with sand, which was very pleasant. But here's a warning, don't go to Rongyuan for food, the service and taste are not good at all!
On the second day, we had breakfast at the hotel. Since the child wanted to stay in bed and my husband also felt it was nice to sit on the hotel balcony listening to the sound of the sea and enjoying the view of the courtyard trees, we didn't go out in the morning. In the afternoon, when it was less sunny, we went to the nearby Dashiban Village, an unimaginably beautiful village with blue skies, white clouds, yellow walls, green stone water paths, and Lingying Temple, a nice place to take a walk. Then, before the sun set, we went to Jinlin Beach not far ahead. The sand may not be as good as the seaside, but it was still very nice, and the child loved playing there. Watching the sunset glow spread over Qionghai, watching the gentle waves of Qionghai, watching the child's joyful laughter, watching the wind rustle the willows on the shore... It was truly a happy and relaxing trip.
On the third day, we woke up the child very early because we were going to Lushan. We got up early to avoid the sun at its strongest. We were the first ones waiting at the ticket office, and because we arrived early, we could park freely at the entrance. If you come late, you might not be able to park, as there are very few parking spaces at the ticket office entrance. Lushan was also a very surprising place. We took the cable car up the mountain, which was quite relaxing. From the observation deck, you can have a bird's eye view of Qionghai, very magnificent! Then we visited the ancient Guangfu Temple on the mountain, worth a visit. We also saw monkeys🐒. We took the slide down the mountain, which can be understood as a very long slide, sliding down from inside the mountain, and you can see many monkeys🐒 during the process. The child really liked it.
We had lunch at the hotel at noon, and I must say, even the lunch at this hotel was very delicious and not expensive. After resting for a while, we set off back to Chengdu. On the way back, we also casually visited Menghuo City, but since it was a bit cold on the mountain, and I have a bit of a fear of huge things, we didn't stay long and continued on our way. It was already dark when we arrived in Chengdu.
❤ Overall, this trip was very pleasant, and this kind of self-drive trip that allows you to play at your own pace is really perfect for a family trip!
