This facility is a facility of the Ministry of the Environment to protect valuable wildlife such as amamino crocodile rabbits and rats, and introduces the nature of Amami archipelago such as Amami, Tokunoshima, Okinoerabu Island, Yoron Island, and Kikai Island. At the animal stuffed exhibition corner, the comment of the animals on the case was quite interesting. The nature of the Amami archipelago is also introduced in the video. We are also working on mangoose and cat extermination, but mangoose, which has increased to about 10,000 at one time, is almost extinct. ...
I was worried about the animal dung I found in a certain place, so I took a picture and asked here. It was Amamino rabbit dung. We are exhibiting specimens of valuable creatures (including stuffed animals) that live on Amami Oshima. I touched the amamino crow rabbit (skinned). Plants such as shrimp that have become rare species due to theft, and mangoose released for the extermination of hub prey on crow rabbits, destroying the ecosystem, and knowing the project situation of mangoose extermination. ...
I went on a sightseeing tour of Amami Oshima on February 13th. It is a facility of the Ministry of the Environment that explains the exhibition of Amami animals and plants. There is a simple video screening in the conference room, so it is recommended to watch it first. From the name of the facility, I wondered if there were living Amamino Crow Rabbits, but there is no real one. A stuffed Amamino Crow Rabbit is on display.
I went on a tour. After watching the video, I saw small fish, stuffed black rabbits, mangooses, birds, insect specimens, etc. in the aquarium. I was able to touch black rabbits and mangooses. There is a pamphlet of flora and fauna in color 々, and I was able to know the name of the flowers I saw during the tour. It is a facility like an off-school learning facility, but it is recommended to stop by.
There were many materials about Amami no Crow Rabbit. It is a fulfilling facility where you can learn about the ecosystem peculiar to Amami Oshima. Moreover, the admission fee is free.
