I didn't know much about the history of the Yanagawa clan, so I didn't know much about anything other than the Tachibana family. I stopped by the Tachibana family museum before coming to this statue, so I was able to see the statue after purchasing knowledge about Yoshimasa Tanaka. I thought that the history of Yanagawa was also interesting.
A bronze statue standing at the edge of Yanagawa's moat
Original Text
While enjoying the downstream of Yanagawa, the statue standing at the edge of the moat was the statue of Yoshimasa Tanaka. Yoshimasa Tanaka is the first Chikugo kokushu and is said to have been the first person to develop digging, roads, and reclamation, including Yanagawa Castle. The river course we passed by a donko boat was built in that era, that is, the moat he made. It seems that he has been widely respected as a god of civil engineering and flood control since ancient times.

I saw a statue from the ship in the latter half of the Yanagawa River. He was from Omi and was a master of urban design. Although he was a chief retainer of Hidetsugu Toyotomi, he escaped from the position of the imperial court by giving up at the end, and in Sekigahara, he joined the eastern army and became a daimyo (Japanese feudal lord) of 320000 Koku of Yanagawa after the achievement of the capture of Mitsunari Ishida in the same village. Yanagawa is famous for the 'Takeshige Tachibana', but it can be said that Yoshimasa Tanaka built the foundation. However, 2 Tadamasa Yodai had no boys, so he was deprived of his fief, and the [Tachibana family], which continued from the Meiji era to the present age, was revived by a miracle. ...
He was the Lord of Chikugo Province who made Yanagawa town

The donko boat down the Yanagawa River carrying us wanted to relax down the moat. 1 This statue of Yoshimasa Tanaka was built on the moat around the latter half of the river down about an hour. When I wondered what kind of person he was, he was the Lord of the country around here at the beginning of the Edo period. He was the lord who built the foundation for the town development of Yanagawa, such as maintaining the digging of Yanagawa and creating roads.
