Nanhexia Historic District

The Nanhexia neighborhood is not commercialized and very quiet. There are a lot of old houses and narrow alleys, full of historical heritage. Inadvertently, you can encounter a house left by the Qing Dynasty, many of which are the houses of the previous salt merchants.

Nanhexia Historical and Cultural District is one of Yangzhou's famous attractions. I accidentally saw this neighborhood in Yangzhou City on Baidu map, only felt that the name under the Nanhe River was uniquely poetic, so I wanted to go to explore. When the 66 bus stopped at the 7,2 and3 bus stops on Nantong East Road, I got off the bus and repeatedly took the map to confirm that the desolate old neighborhood opposite is the "under the South River" I want to explore. It seems that this is right! Walking under the Nanhe with a hard scalp, the atmosphere of life here is more than I imagined, the main road is even a dusty cement road rather than the stone road seen in Dongguan Street, although regret, but since it comes, then stroll! So I walked along Nanhe, Yinshi Street, Xincang Lane, Dingjiawan, Pishi Street, and finally went to Dongguan Street. Yinshi Street and Xincang Lane are very original residential communities, all the way are gray brick houses, basically no one is active after night, everything seems very quiet. The lighting in this community is very good, there is no black light on the road, compared to the dim block of Dongguan Street. When I was about to leave Dingjiawan, a bright shop suddenly came into view, so that the neighborhood that had to start sleeping had a little vitality, so that I suddenly felt suddenly open. After Dingjiawan turned left to Pishi Street, this neighborhood became vibrant. A variety of coffee shops and specialty restaurants were in scale. I visited a grocery store that called me slow. I walked slowly for almost an hour. There are many souvenirs related to Yangzhou in the store. I carefully selected and had a great time shopping. I met this neighborhood and this store. Suddenly, I liked this small city full of history and not as crowded as other historical cities in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai! Yangzhou is indeed a city that needs to slow down to visit and experience, walk into the old streets of those cities, visit those bricks and tiles that have witnessed Yangzhou's glory in Chinese history, or choose an exquisite shop to sit down. Experience the transformation of modern life into this ancient city.

Yangzhou's favorite places are all small streets and alleys, full of fireworks

From the bustling Dongguan Street, you can cross Pishi Street from north to south to the canal of the Nanhexia Historic District. This block of Nanhexia District is north to Guangling Road, south to the middle section of Nanhexia and the first line of Garden Lane, east to Xuningmen Road, west to Fujiadian and Dujiang Road. The scope is large and there are many alleys. It is easy to get lost without navigation. Kangshan Street, east to west under the Nanhe River, is known as the salt merchant street, almost all salt merchants are rich and Jia gathering place. But in addition to the large house compound of the rich salt merchants, more ordinary people are still ordinary people. The alleys of the whole block are crisscrossed, square and orderly, and connected to each other. Yangzhou people have lived in this ordinary alley for generations. The block carries the history and customs of Yangzhou. The whole alleys, houses, and mansions of the whole block are fully preserved. What is more valuable here is that you can feel the life of Yangzhou people with the original taste. There are few tourists, and they are often friends next door. So when you visit Dongguan Street, you must come to Nanhe, which is two different experiences.

Nanhexia District, located in the south of Yangzhou Old Town, on the banks of the ancient canal, the existing garden lanes, Nanhexia, Dingjiawan and other old streets in the area. With Heyuan as the first, there are salt merchants, clubhouses and ancient houses in Yangzhou. According to reports, in the Nanhexia block, in addition to the famous salt merchants' house Heyuan, there are also Hunan Assembly Hall (Gion), Pingyuan, Xiaopangu, Jia's Garden, Second Mingyue Building, Xu Yunfu Residence (Zundetang), Yuan Keting Salt Merchant's Former Residence, Lingnan Assembly Hall, Four shore public office and many other well-preserved salt merchants and clubhouses. At the same time, the block of Nanhe, Garden Lane, Dashu Lane, Dingjiawan, Wucheng Lane, Jushi Lane, Yinshi Street, Xincang Lane and other ancient alleys crisscross, the alley of ancient wells, old houses, sandwich walls, brick engraved gates and other archetypes, the block style is extremely complete. There are 16 ancient trees over 100 years in the area.
