These significant gates upon the walls are manifest visions of the city fortifications. Our favourite is Micklegate which appears to have been recently restored / cleaned.

Monk Bar

Monk Bar is probably the most impressive of these ancient entrances to the city. Look out for the exhibitions in some of the others.
