The Yellow River Three Gorges Dam is a AAA-level tourist attraction to the northeast of Sanmenxia City in Henan Province. Sanmenxia is one of the birthplaces of the Chinese nation. According to legend, when Dagu took control of the waters, he used his axe to form the three gorges, "Man Gate," "God Gate" and "Ghost Gate." "三门峡" literally means the "Three Gate Gorge" and this is the origin of the site’s name. The Sanmenxia Yellow River Dam is bordered by Shaanxi Province to the north and Shanxi Province to the west. It is known as the “Golden Triangle” of Western Henan Province. This is a cultural landscape of reservoir sightseeing tourism, which combines scenic spots and the man-made landscapes of the Sanmenxia Dam.
