Palais des Papes Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
The Old Papal Palace (not in the Vatican)
I didn’t know there was a Papal Palace in France until I visited one in Avignon.
It was an old building but still pretty interesting. The place Is really big and good for 2 hours long. There is an interactive tablet that serves as a guide as well. It makes use of VR so that was pretty cool.
It’s the main attraction in Avignon and a must visit, although it’s not something incredibly breathtaking.
Cool experience nonetheless.
The Medieval Papal City
Avignon, a famous tourist city in the south of France, is most prominent for the city walls that encircle the old town, stretching five kilometers in total, all built from massive squared stones, very similar to the feeling of the ancient cities of Xi'an and Pingyao in Shanxi. Here, one is not limited to visiting the ancient sites and museums, but can also stroll through the historic alleys, exploring the hidden treasures scattered throughout every corner of the city.
As the largest Gothic building of the Middle Ages, the Papal Palace witnessed the wealth and power of the Catholic Church in the Kingdom of France at one time.
The Petit Palais Museum, an extraordinary art museum located in front of the Archbishop's Palace, spans most of the 14th to 17th centuries in its construction, providing a perfect environment for displaying its numerous masterpieces.
The Broken Bridge/Saint Bénézet Bridge, widely known for a famous nursery rhyme, once spanned the Rhône River and served as a link between the Papal territory and the Kingdom of France. Of the twenty-two arches of this monumental building, only four remain today, with the rest having been swept away by the raging river centuries ago.
Provence's 5 most worth visiting places
The Papal Palace
In Avignon, the first thing you need to visit is the Palace of the Popes, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest Gothic palace in Europe.
Cassis Roanne Estuary
Cassis was once considered a hidden gem, but has become more well-known in the past few decades. However, this is not a negative thing. In fact, it is still one of the best tourist destinations in Provence, with its white cliffs making it a great place to visit in the summer. Not only that, Cassis is also famous for its wine, and you can enjoy a drink at one of the many coastal bars and restaurants.
Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Rhone River Mouth
Saint-Remy-de-Provence (French: Saint-Rémy-de-Provence) is a commune in the Bouches-du-Rhône department in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of France. It is one of the best markets in Provence, located on the French Riviera.
Arles Rhone Delta
Van Gogh's other residence in Provence was Arles. In fact, you can take a stroll in the Van Gogh tour and see some of the places where he painted about 300 paintings around Arles. To this day, you can also visit the Langlois Bridge, one of his famous paintings that still stands proudly.
Provence Aix-en-Provence and Rhone River Mouth
Provence's Aix has the warmth of the south of France and the elegance of Paris, making it a must-visit destination in Provence. If you prefer to spend more urban holidays in Provence, the city atmosphere here is the perfect choice.

Avignon Old Town Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
The summer in the South of France
1⃣️Burgundy region | Chablis, Côte d'Or, Beaune town
Burgundy is famous for its wine, and where there is fine wine, there is certainly no lack of beautiful scenery. Hills covered with blueberries, fields cloaked in forests, sparkling lakes, and of course, vast vineyards. Embedded within are medieval villages and retro castles... It's no wonder it's so popular for weddings.
Driving into Burgundy from Paris or the Champagne region, the first area you pass through is Chablis. Then you travel through Côte d'Or to reach the town of Beaune, to explore the Hospices de Beaune, the wine cellars in the old town, the classical houses, and the unusual geometric patterns made out of colorful enamel bricks on the rooftops...
Winery recommendation: Domaine Laroche (Chablis)
Hotel recommendation: Hostellerie Levernois
Restaurant recommendation: La Table de Levernois
2⃣️Provence | Lyon, Avignon, Gordes
Lyon is one of the oldest cities in France, especially the small street under the Fourvière hill in the old town, which retains many buildings from the 15th to 17th centuries, making one feel as if they have returned to the Middle Ages.
Avignon is covered with lavender and has many papal elements, such as the Papal Palace, Avignon city walls, Pont Saint-Bénézet, and the Cathedral of Our Lady of Doms, all filled with a mysterious aesthetic. Gordes-Provence, the location of postcard-perfect scenes, boasts not only the beautiful sea of lavender flowers but also the Stone Town as one of its highlights.
Hotel recommendation: Airelles Gordes
3⃣️French Riviera | Saint-Tropez, Monaco, Èze, Cap Ferrat, Nice
Saint-Tropez can be said to be the symbol of the reputation of the French Riviera, with many low-key yet luxurious top hotels and high-end restaurants, becoming a gathering place for wealthy celebrities and stars. Cannes is also a place full of history and artistic sense, with seafood that is even more affordable than in Nice.
Monaco is a country within a country, not belonging to France~ but it is quite wealthy, with valuable sports cars seen everywhere on the beautiful streets, making the whole country feel like an incredible showcase. Èze is a small village between Nice and Monaco, and from its exotic garden at the top of over six hundred meters, one can bird's-eye view most of the French Riviera, a very charming and spectacular sight.
Cap Ferrat is just a ten-minute drive from Nice. It's great for hiking. Nice is a delicate and elegant color city, with markets that are great to stroll around, full of the charm of the South of France. Because Monaco, Èze, Nice are all close together
The old residence of the Pope is Avignon
❤Recommended reason:
Avignon Old Town, the former residence of the Pope. The broken bridge is near the entrance of the old city, and the old city is full of historical sedimentation, suitable for aimless wandering or finding a roadside shop to sit.
🚉Travel strategy:
It's very convenient by TGV high-speed rail. Tomorrow
Provence filled with romance
Across the ocean, there is a medieval knight city.
She is located on the blue coast of the Mediterranean
It's the hometown of lavender. She is called Provence
As children, we probably all watched a TV show
The Zi Ling in 'See the Dream Again' lived the way all girls wanted to be
And she and Yun Fan's home is in Provence
You ask me how to describe the beauty here
I think it should be the lavender manor full of purple in July and August
It should be the mysterious castle full of Avignon's broken bridge
It's the couple bathing in the sun on the Nice beach
Or the beautiful perfume manor in Aix
Provence is like a palette rendered by God for lonely life
Leave all kinds of colored flowers in the world
We always say the world is so big, I want to see
But for a while, I don't know where to start
Provence will never disappoint you
Here, flowers and leaves are in love,
Trees and the earth are in love
The blue sky and white clouds are in love
Everything you can perceive is in love.
Love surrounds Provence
And it infects everyone who comes to Provence
Set off, right now.

Restaurant Avenio Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Michelin also recommended the restaurant
especially recommended a restaurant called AVENIO, 2018 Michelin recommended restaurant. The location is not right, I can't describe it accurately with text, navigation can take you to find it. The store was small and came early at dinner, and the room was filled with reservations. I sat outside and opened the menu. The title page reads the source of the store name AVENIO. The original French word is the oldest name of Avignon. The price is moderate and the taste is amazing. The tender spinach is covered with squid slices, topped with fragrant egg yolk juice, and two high-quality hams are placed on top. Oh, the ingredients are too small to eat enough. There are many such restaurants in this town that are desirable.

Provence Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
#Tuscany goes to the distance #Provence, France, is indeed a beautiful place, under the blue sky and white clouds, is the endless lavender. We stayed here for a short stay and the thief stole passports, computers, wallets and more. Also stolen was a credit card parked next to our car and a pair of young Singaporean couples in the driver's seat. Half an hour after the
alarm, the local police came to ask about the situation and drove around to look around. There was no result. In desperation, we only drove to the Marseille police station immediately. . . . . . .
The world is so beautiful, I want to see it with you.
Take the mountains and rivers. The way you cross the sea
world depends on how you look at it
after the world. Watch with you.

Have you checked in to the ten most romantic countries in the world?
The ten most romantic countries in the world, you must go and see.
❤①Italy
The beauty of Italy is ancient, passionate, fanatical, and more romantic.
It's you exploring Audrey Hepburn's footsteps in the Spanish Square in Roman Holiday, it's you gazing at your lover in the Florence Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, it's you pushing a gondola into the small streets and alleys in the water city of Venice. It's you stepping on Sicily to see the most romantic sunset.
❤②France
If Paris is a flowing feast, then France is permanent romance.
Follow the footsteps of purple water chestnut and cloud sail into Paris, into Provence, into the lavender fields, into the ancient castles full of stories, and also into the arms of your own lover.
❤③Indonesia Bali
Bali is known as the island of the gods, a place blessed by heaven, a land full of love, natural and pure beauty, unique Hindu culture. Pursue the freedom and romance of the soul to Bali.
❤④Turkey
Turkey, like a wild horse, ran from Asia and crashed into the European continent. When the hot air balloon in Cappadocia rises, I think: I wish you and I can wander in this world with the most humble luggage and the richest self.
❤⑤Slovenia
The only country with 'love' in its name, love is romantic because of companionship. And my love is hidden in every moment.
❤⑥Iceland
To love at the end of the world is the most beautiful praise for Iceland. I don't have a big wish, my only wish is to go to the end of the world with you. Some people say that the end of the world is loneliness, but it is this loneliness that needs to be loved. Loneliness itself is also a kind of romance.
❤⑦Greece
The sunset of Santorini is an indelible romance in life. Love you before sunset, pour all the blue and white in the world, searching for all the sadness and joy in the world. Freeze love in front of your eyes.
❤⑧Maldives
At the time you like, in the way you like, do what you like the most. This is the romantic life I want most in the Maldives.
❤⑨Australia
Everyone says, you must come to the Great Barrier Reef once in your life. Fortunately, there is love, fearless mountains and seas. I think the mountains and seas are a particularly romantic word, without boundaries, without constraints, both the destination and the home.
❤⑩China
The romance of China is hidden in the longing of 'The so-called Yi people, on the other side of the water' in the Book of Songs, also hidden in the persistence of 'I see all beings are grass and wood, only seeing you is the green mountain', and more hidden in the prayer of 'How can the world get the best of both worlds, not betray the Tathagata, not betray you'. The romance of the Chinese lies in the fact that every sentence does not mention I love you, but every sentence is I love you.

Place du palais Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Located in the south of France, Avignon is the residence of the Pope in the past. The Palais is very quaint. It overlooks the city, the walls surrounding the city and the bridges that crossed the Rhone River in the 12th century. In the square below the Gothic building, the small palace and the Roman church of the Notre Dame priests form a special set of monuments that highlight the prominent role of Avignon in the Christianity of Europe in the 14th century.
