Taoist Temple is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Cebu City. It was built in 1972 by the Chinese community of Cebu. It is the center of the Taoism religion in the city but open for general public from 8am to 5pm. The temple exhibits Chinese style architecture. It is situated around three hundred meters high above sea level, that first-time travellers find it hard to reach. Getting there: This temple can only be reached through a private car, taxi, or a motorcycle for hire called the “habal-habal”. Motorcycles for hire are allowed only until the gate of the subdivision, you need to walk from the gate to the temple which will take more or less 15 minutes. Located in Beverly Hills Subdivision in Lahug, Cebu City, the Taoist Temple is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the city. This was built some forty years ago by the city’s Chinese community. You can reach the place by either taking the cab or a private vehicle. If you wish to take the motorcycle for hire called the habal-habal, they are only allowed outside the gates of the subdivision so you still have to walk for around 15 minutes to reach the temple. The temple is surrounded by huge trees so the air is not as hot as it is. You get enough shade. You’ll be able to appreciate its beauty when you’re on top.

With an elevation of 110 metres above sea level, the temple is a towering, multi-tiered, multi-hued attraction accessible by three separate winding routes.Unlike the neighboring Phu Sian Temple, the Taoist temple is open to the worshipers and non-worshipers alike. A ritual among devotees is where one prays to the gods to grant one's wish. The ritual includes washing of hands, going inside the chapel barefoot and dropping two blocks of wood. If the blocks of wood are both face up then one could make a wish. If not then it is not yet the time for one's wish to be granted and one has to come to the temple some other time. The temple is set in beautiful surroundings easily reached by taxi from the city centre. Quite a lot of steps need to be climbed so be advised to wear suitable footware. The temple is a popular site so do not expect to be alone there. We went early morning so it was less crowded. #givethanks #givethanks
