Conquering an active volcano 🌋
When in Bali, never ever miss out on an unforgettable, unconvential experience. Beyond the islands, beaches, and nightlife, travel up north into the cultural heart of Bali and go on a sunrise trek up Mount Batur - one of Bali's active volcanoes!
Mount Batur stands at an imposing 1,717m high, and is still active! Its most recent eruption was in 2000. The sunrise trek begins at roughly 3.30am, and everything is provided: sticks, flash lights, refreshments and breakfast. Our guide was fantastic: he was encouraging, helpful, and funny. Your guide will also make breakfast for you at the summit, including hard-boiled eggs cooked in the steam from the volcano!
The beginner-level trek (1.5-2 hours) though at some parts challenging, is worth it. The sunrise is stunning at the summit - you can even see Lombok from there! It was a personal and emotional moment for many - I dare say it's a life-changing experience, so do not miss this when in Bali.
Tips to conquer Mt. Batur:
1. Have enough rest the day before
2. Bring a light jacket
3. Wear shoes with strong grip

Absolutely worth it. We did a sunset tour, pickup at the hotel at 2.30 am, started hiking at 4.30. Quite exhausting as we had to rush a bit, but the views are amazing.
Amazing sunrise hike!!! only took 1 hour and 45 minutes to climb. You can get hot coffee at top to warm up.
We took the jeep up. We have a driver, our driver recommended us the jeep company. It was worth waking up at 2am, getting picked up at 230am, brought to only God knows where cause I slept through the ride. I was wearing a hoodie, it wasn’t enough! Bring a sweater or whatever to keep yourself warm. Unless you’re trekking, that’s different. Don’t bother adding the volcano trip after. It was just an area full of black stones. But I’d defo recommend doing Mount Batur
never been bored here. And this is my second review. This mountain's view is amazing! You can see Abang, right in front of you across the lake. Agung is a bit hide at the back of Abang. If you're lucky, you can see the legend Rinjani!
A word of warning - the trek is TOUGH i am a fit person who works out 5 times a week and have good cardio endurance and I struggled! We did so the trek in an hour and a half so would probably be easier if you took longer to get up but the walk is steep
best sunrise under the cloud, on top on the lake, what a stunning view I ever had!
