The Upper Terrace

Observation Deck
Open Open from 8:30am-3:30pm
Address: Grand Palace, Bangkok, Thailand

What people are saying:

The magnificent palace is guarded by two huge yaks, a mythical animal dating back to the 14th century. In this walled Grand Palace complex, there are dozens of buildings: Jieji Hall, Jade Buddha, Rattana Stupa (golden bell-shaped stupa), the palace itself, the National Pillar Temple, and the Queen’s Textiles of Bangkok Museums and so on. The upper balcony is a magnificent place where you can see many of these structures, as shown in the attached photo. Walking along the upper platform, the landscape of various structures changes with the changes of light and perspective. The best place to go to the balcony is that there is no extra charge for this hidden gem-like place, which is already included in the ticket price of the Grand Palace.

    Part of the Grand palace.

This is a somehow elevated area of the Grand palace. The view from here is nice and you can visit some of the temples and pagodas in this area during your visit of the entire palace complex.
