Former Residence of Mao Dun

Mao Dun lived here from 1974 to 1981. The former residence is a quadrangle courtyard. On the shadow wall inside the door, there is a black marble horizontal plaque with golden characters "Mao Dun's former residence". In the front yard, there are three north rooms, three east and west wing rooms, and six reverse rooms. The west wing was originally Mao Dun's reception room and library. The east wing is the dining room, and the rest are houses for family members and service personnel. There are six north rooms and two west rooms in the backyard. The north room was originally Mao Dun's studio and bedroom. After Mao Dun's death, the former residence was turned into an exhibition hall open to the public. There are two showrooms in the front yard of the former residence, displaying the real objects and pictures of Mao Dun during his lifetime, including manuscripts, works, letters, handwritings and literary publications edited by Mao Dun, totaling more than 400 pieces. At the entrance of the exhibition hall, there is a half-length white marble statue of Mao Dun, which is 83 cm high and placed on a black marble base. There are 15 houses in the front yard. The west wing was originally a reception room and a library. The exhibition room has real objects and pictures of Mao Dun from his youth to his death, including manuscripts, first editions of his works, letters, handwritings, and two volumes of composition in elementary school. There are 6 main rooms in the backyard, and there is a black lacquer carved urn of Ms. Kong Dezhan, the wife of Mao Dun.
