Nanguanfang Hutong

Nanguanfang Hutong is located in Xicheng District, Beijing, on the northwest coast of Qianhai. In the middle of the Qing Dynasty, many official houses were built around Shichahai to house officials from other provinces who came to Beijing to take office. This is how Guanfang Hutong came to be. Nanguanfang Hutong is one of the longer ones. It was called "Nanguanfu Hutong" during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, and was renamed "Nanguanfangkou" during the Xuantong period. After 1965, it was changed to this name. It is also a must-see when visiting the old Beijing Hutongs. Walking in the alley, you will find that there will always be an endless stream of tricycles speeding by with tourists. The east side of Nanguanfang Hutong is the same as the northern edge of Qianhai, and the west side is Yizi Hutong, which is about 644 meters long. The whole street is full of prosperous shops, very lively, and the Hongyuan Shabu-shabu City in Dongkou is always full of friends. This hutong is called "literati hutong", and it is really a place where literati gather. No. 7 "Bai Family Courtyard" was the "Lotus White" contracted in the Shichahai waters at the end of the Qing Dynasty; No. 11 and No. 13 were once the imperial physicians of the Qing Palace; No. 20 used to live in the fourth son of Liu E, the author of "The Travels of the Elderly". Liu Jiying; Courtyard 47 was the residence of Yinga, the tenth son of Kangxi; Courtyard 51 was where Gu Sui lived before his death; Courtyard 53 was where Ms. Fengzi and Mr. Shabori lived. No. 39 Nanguanfang Hutong is a traditional quadrangle courtyard with an area of more than 400 square meters. It has a red lacquer gate, carved beams and painted buildings on the eaves, and white marble frescoes on both sides of the opposite door, showing that the owner here is at least the third grade of official residence. The grape trellis in the courtyard is lush and lush, and below it is a round stone table and stone bench made of white marble. The birds under the North Room Corridor, the grasshoppers on the pomegranate trees, and the playful goldfish in the tank are full of Beijing flavor. Now No. 61 and 63 are the former sites of Shengquan Nunnery. Shengquan Nunnery is one of the Jiu Nunneries named after the "Nine Temples and One Temple" around the lake in Shichahai in folklore. In addition, there are some hidden bars in the hutong, which is much quieter than Qianhai Dongyan, Lotus Market, and Yandai Xiejie.
