After 250 years of collecting, it is no wonder over 30 million artifacts rest in the halls of the NHMW, just across from the mirror-imaged Museum of Fine Arts. You’ll find the skeletons of dinosaurs, minerals and stones dating back millennia, taxidermied animals from around the globe, including the stellar sea-cow which went extinct in 1768. This is also the home of the Venus of Willendorf, a feminine statuette unearthed in Austria and believed to have been crafted between 24,000 and 22,000 B.C.E. The Café Nautilus serves meals for when all that exploring and learning leaves you hungry.
