Victoria’s Chinatown National Historic Site

Victoria was the last stop on our Alaskan cruise, and we only had around three hours to explore the city. We found some walking trails from the cruise ship terminal towards downtown and Chinatown (Canada’s oldest), where we grabbed a late night bubble tea snack before heading back to the ship.

Canada is also a place where many Chinese live. The whole Chinatown is also quite huge. The streets are full of Chinese characters. It is also a place that has been built for a hundred years. Chinatown can also buy some big and good things.

I have always wanted to see more Chinatown in Victoria, but because the tour guide missed the boat and delayed the time, the tour time of Chinatown was compressed. I repeatedly emphasized that Chinatown was very small and it was gone after a turn, so I didn't park in Chinatown. So the so-called Tongji Gate, only heard a name. Snapped a few photos from the window and left with regret.

Victoria's Chinatown is the earliest in Canada, located in the heart of Victoria, and on the streets of Chinatown hang two large banners with two dragons, and then write: Canada's oldest Chinatown! There is also a Tongji Gate on Chinatown, which says "Tongji Gate" and a couplet. The characteristics of Chinatown are Chinese characters and lanterns that show auspiciousness! I feel that Victoria's Chinatown is a bit deserted, there are not many people, and some of the shops on the street are run by foreigners. On the street, I also saw a free newspaper called "The Epoch". From the content, it should be run by Taiwanese Chinese! There are also some Chinese restaurants on the street! Compared with Vancouver's Chinatown, it is a little smaller and deserted, but it is much cleaner! As a Chinese, I like to travel abroad to Chinatown.
