There is Ikumatsu in "Kogoro of escape"!

    Original Text

The location of Hotel Okura Kyoto is where the Choshu clan residence was once. On the west side of the hotel is the statue of Kogoro Katsura, a disciple of Shoin Yoshida and a central figure of the overthrowing faction in the Choshu clan. In the Ikedaya incident, he escaped from the difficulty, and in the kinmon incident, he passed through the crisis, and as he was said to have been a pine tree in 'Kogoro of escape', he was helped by the wit of ikumatsu several times, and he was a first class swordsman without killing people. I didn't live It is said. In 1866 (Keio 2), he became a Satsuma Chocho Alliance with Ryoma Sakamoto ...

    Statue of Kogoro Katsura

    Original Text

A statue of Do 々 in front of Hotel Okura across Kawaramachi-dori from the city hall. Personally, I prefer Ryoma, but there is no doubt that Kogoro Katsura (later Takayoshi Kido) is one of the heroes of the Meiji Restoration. I am deeply moved to think that such people used to walk around here.

    Bronze statue

    Original Text

It is said that there was a hideaway with Ikumatsu behind this place (Kyoto Hotel Okura), so a statue is built. Of course, there is no dust and it is a cool statue in a corner of a modern building.

The second at the end of the Edo period

    Original Text

It is a statue on the northwest side of Kyoto Hotel Okura. It was erected in 1995 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the formation of the Kyoto Katsura Lions Club, as the site of the hotel corresponds to the site of the Kyoto mansion of the Choshu clan. He is known as one of the 'Meiji Restoration sankei' (the three masters of the Meiji Restoration), but he is known for hiding near geisha ikumatsu and escaped from the followers of shinsengumi. Not only Kogoro but also the second hero at the end of the Edo period, such as hanheita Takechi, Ryoma Sakamoto, munemitsu Mutsu and toshizo hijikata, are many.

I think of the leading actor who succeeded the Meiji Restoration

    Original Text

Recently, when I come to Kyoto, I often use Kyoto Hotel Okura. This statue is located on the northwest corner of the hotel, facing the city hall on the Kawaramachi-dori side. I liked Kogoro Katsura since I read historical novels at the end of the Edo period when I was a student. I am also a swordsman, and I don't think anyone will come to the right as a great man who thought about the future of this country, acted and achieved results. There is a residence of Choshu domain in this place, and the residence where Ikumatsu lived is close, and the change of the age such as the Ikedaya incident and the Satsuma Chocho alliance ...
