Kyoto Aquarium

On this land, the first aquarium was born. The rainwater that fell between the Tamba Mountains and the Ashi virgin forest turned into a clear spring, a small stream, and soon it converged into a large river, which finally emptied into the sea. The ecosystem that flows from the source all the way to the sea, and the symbiosis of various organisms, is reproduced in the aquarium. Also, the Kyoto Aquarium is more than just displays. Activities such as "close encounters", which are learned while playing, and explanations by breeders are also regularly held here. The goal of the aquarium is to create a comprehensive educational and entertaining facility that allows children living in Kyoto to get close to the water and the various creatures that inhabit it. At the same time, it also reduces power consumption through solar power generation and supports the breeding of rare species in Kyoto. As a representative facility of an environmental model city, it is committed to nature conservation.
