It’s not just about the cross... its more about all that history. Standing in that exact same spot is kinda like being a part of an important part of the Philippines’ cultural heritage.
Magellan's Cross is just located outside Basilica Minore de Santo Niño. You need to get inside the structure to see paintings on the ceiling which will tell you about the history on how it was erected. It is said that the original cross has already been covered because many believed that a piece of the original cross can make miracle. You can also read the history of the erection of the Magellan's Cross engraved just below the cross.
One of the famous spot in Cebu just outside the Basilica de Sto. Niño, a grotto-like build where Magellan’s cross was placed.A spot where you can see a lot of people lining up for picture and the candle ladies offering for prayers!Be part of the crowd now!
Nice and most historical place around The city next back door to Sto Niño
The first time I was able to go here was during our educational tour and now, I always go here because I only live nearby. I love the paintings and all. Right next to it is the Sto. Nino Basilica Church where I always light a candle. A very nice place indeed!
Did a self-guided walk through the historical sites in Cebu City. It was great! While the Magellan cross itself is nothing special, it was a nice place to visit before ending the tour at the Fort.... And the Fort is really cool minus the crowds!
wonderful. a must visit place
Magellans's Cross is a very historical site and also sits close to the Church of Santo Nino. The site of the cross has been kept beautifully and the church is quite breath taking! The entrance fee is small and there were many visitors. I recommend experiencing this site because it is also one of the best places to be close to the history of the Philippines.
