1. The archway in China has existed since ancient times. Ancient archways have been handed down to later generations, and there are still many places in existence. Archway culture is an integral part of Chinese traditional culture. Its main function is to commemorate and highlight the achievements of festivals, merits and virtues, and Kodi in the form of memorial archways, and to praise merits and virtues. The most representative archway culture in China is the Ming and Qing Archway Street in Chaozhou. It is also the best scenic spot for visiting ancient archways, with the largest number and concentration. 2. Eleven of us visited the Ming and Qing Paifang Street in Chaozhou on the afternoon of May 28 this year. It is located on Taiping Road (Street) in Chaozhou City. The whole long Taiping Street is mostly four-pillar and three-door archways, standing across the road, ranks after ranks and magnificent. When I look at it, I can't help but be shocked. 3. According to historical records, the first archway in the Ming and Qing Dynasties of Chaozhou is the Sijin Shifang built by Zhengde Dingugou (1517) of the Ming Dynasty. It was established for Xiao He-cheng, Chen Daqi, Xue Kan and Su Xinjian, the scholar of Zhengde Ding and Ugly Section in Ming Dynasty. The maximum number of Mingzhao archways in Chaozhou was 91. By October 1949, 39 archways coexisted. By April 1951, 36 archways were demolished, leaving only "Yuebe", "Provincial Lang" and "Zhongjie" three archways. During the Cultural Revolution, two archways "Yuebe" and "Provincial Lang" were demolished, and only "Zhongjie" archways remained. 4. The Ming and Qing archways in Chaozhou that we see now began to be repaired in April 2004 and completed on October 1, 2009, and opened to the public formally. Chaozhou Chronicle is making Chaozhou Ming and Qing Paifang Street the largest ancient Paifang Street in China and the unique landmark in the world. 5. We now see 22 restored Chaozhou Ming and Qing archways. These archways all belong to three types: Jingbiaofang, famous, official and Chifeng. There are single names such as "Sijin Shifang", "Zhuangyuan Fang" and so on; there are single official, such as "Dali Shiping Yunfang of Zhejiang Province" and so on; there are single well-known, such as "Enguangqu Chu Fang"; there are both honorary and official, such as "Jinbang Lianfang Liangjing Kedaofang" and so on, there are 22 memorial halls which are both honorary and well-known, such as "Wuchu Chongzhen Fourth Shifufang" which are rebuilt respectively "Sijin Shifang, Siwenfang. Wuchu Chongzhen IV Doctor's Square, Jin Chongguang Closed Quilt Square, Bangyuan Qiutai Square, Xianbanmu Tianrenrui Square, Qijun Square, Enguang Quxi Square. 6. Paifang Street in Ming and Qing Dynasties is the center of the Millennium Ancient City of Chaozhou (on the central axis), Chaozhou gourmet restaurants, specialty stores (Chaozhou Sanbao - "old citrus bergamot, yellow peel, old medicinal orange, etc.) craft stores gather on both sides of Mingzhao Paifang Street and flourish. After visiting Paifang Street in Ming and Qing Dynasties, you can go to nearby Guangji Tower, Kaiyuan Temple, Xufu Mafu and other famous scenic spots in Chaozhou. (See figure below)
Chaozhou Paifang Street, many snacks ah: eggs ice cream, glutinous rice pork sausage, Hu Ronghua all kinds of cakes, four fruit soup, there are a few have forgotten to take pictures, interested in their own bar! It is worth mentioning that there is a tea house in Paifang Street, Chaozhou. The courtyard is deep, this teahouse is antique and has a good mood. The seemingly primitive facade outside hides the universe, carved beams and painted pillars, and there are even ancient wells in the teahouse to make tea. Unfortunately, time is too short, otherwise you can really sit down and drink a cup of tea and feel it.
The original intention of going to Paifang Street was to eat, but of course it did not disappoint me. There are many snacks in this street. Every family is very prosperous. There are three Hurongquan families. Only one family can sit down and drink some sugar water. The duck mother twists sweet and soft waxy, the crisp cake is sweet and not greasy, and the spring cake can not be eaten. On the way to find a small shop, ordered beef balls soup, Shaomi, oysters, saltwater rice dumplings, fried rice dumplings, feeling general, some disappointment. Along the way, the emerging archways seem to silently convey the history of Chaozhou, like this expression of Chaozhou.
The archways in Chaocheng are all stone structures except "Palace Baoshan Bookstore" and "Six Xianfang" which are wooden structures, "Shijie Xiaofang" and "Autumn Taifang" which were rebuilt after collapse. These archways, "two-column one or four-column three-door, with stone carved into Xieshan top, columns, beams and small pieces, erect three-tier archway, plaque on both sides, some with stone carved "double dragon play beads" or "dragon and Phoenix roll grass" and other decorations, column side with stone lion or stone drum insertion pillar base, Chaozhou people commonly known as pavilions". According to relevant historical records, there were 91 archways in Chaozhou in history, including 39 Taiping Road and 44 other streets and alleys. The rest were in Jinshan, Hanshan and Xiangzi Bridge. In addition, there are 57 villages and towns, so people call it "archway city"; and the archways concentrated on Taiping Road (street) are mainly four pillars and three gates across the road, which are large in scale, row by row, unique in style and extraordinary momentum, so they are known as "archway street".
Chaozhou has the most cultural accumulation of material manifestations, although the archway is for reconstruction, but the real historical review, so that you really feel the historical origin of the ancient city of Chaozhou, cultural heritage, cultural characteristics.
It is very popular for a long time. People come and go very busy. All kinds of snacks and food can not be moved. Most of them are 10 yuan, and Alipay WeChat is very convenient to pay. My favorite is Tamang's large mango ice, dessert after all kinds of snacks. It's too long. It's almost impossible to walk slowly. It's too tired. Especially if you take children who are not eating, you can walk slowly to the West Lake with enough food. It's more than half an hour. It's faster than taking a bus. The traffic jam is terrible.
No tickets are required in Paifang Street. The evening scenery is beautiful, especially the city buildings with lights. When we went there that evening, we were very busy. All the streets were selling things. There were beef balls with local characteristics, cotton candy, clothes, other specialties and everything. Having spent two hours wandering, I still don't want to go.
If you are afraid of crowding, you can choose to ride here before 8 o'clock in the morning. At that time, the local area should not belong to the working time, you can ride a bicycle under the archway. In addition to archways, the crisscrossing side alleys are also worth visiting. Personally, I feel that the essence of Chaozhou travel is in these alleys. Many snacks are worth trying, and the commercial atmosphere here is not strong.
There are 20 archways built on Taiping Road from east to west, and two on Dongmen Street, totaling 22. The archway is made of stone with four pillars and three gates, and the street is lined with arcade buildings. Now it is mostly a busy pedestrian street, which is also a famous scenic spot in Chaozhou. Chaozhou must be here.
Despite the pressure of the metropolis, in Chaozhou, where there is no bicycle to share, walking slowly in the old streets, encountering a miniature version of the chair building, people adhere to the tradition at every corner, as if time had gone backwards for fifty years, in the mottled shadows of trees, is an unexpected slow talk.
