The famous black temple in Chiang Rai, Thailand is not strictly a temple, but an art museum. It was designed and built by the ghost artist Thawan Duchanee for 36 years. The museum is dominated by black tones and other dark tones, symbolizing the concept of hell on earth. The main hall has many exhibits about death and hell, as well as some ancient hunting tools and animal bones, antiques and various specimens, as well as Hindu and Buddhist statues.
