Shuaiyuan Redware Museum

Wuxi Shuaiyuan Zisha Museum is a professional museum of Zisha. It was built in the early 1990s and its predecessor was Shuaiyuan Zisha Art Expo Garden. At the beginning of the 21st century, Jiang Rong, a master of Chinese arts and crafts, served as the general consultant of the Expo Garden all the year round. Today, the museum specially invites Mr. Gu Shaopei, the inheritor of Chinese intangible cultural heritage and the master of Chinese arts and crafts, as the honorary curator. The museum collects hundreds of pieces of purple sand pottery of various ages and styles. Many national masters of arts and crafts: Lv Yaocheng, Bao Zhiqiang, Xu Xiutang, Xu Hantang, Wang Yinxian, Zhou Guizhen, etc., all came to guide and discuss the art of purple sand. More than one million purple sand lovers, Chinese and foreign friends and leaders at all levels of the country have come here to visit. Zisha art is a wonderful flower in Chinese pottery art. Its history can be traced back to the Northern Song Dynasty. Since Ming Zhengde, Chinese literati and painters have cooperated with pottery making masters in Yixing of all dynasties, and have used various arts and crafts methods such as carving, inlay, calligraphy and painting for sand pots. The elegant and exquisite tea-making pots are produced, so that the purple sand pottery has the saying that "the world's pearls and jade are safe enough, how can it be like a pill of Yangxian soil", and the purple sand works are more collected by major museums around the world.
