The Southern Bureau and the Eighth Route Army's Chongqing office were both in Hongyan Village. In 1945, Comrade Mao Zedong also lived in Hongyan Village No. 13, within 43 days of negotiating with the Kuomintang from Yan'an to Chongqing. Therefore, Hongyan Village became a center of political activity that attracted world attention.
