1904 The Hayakawa branch was opened in the current location by Kenichiro Kawamata from Hayakawa Shoten, which sells tea, paper and stationery. The building was rebuilt because it was completely burned down by the great fire in Inaho Town, and you can see preparations for fires such as thick earth-painted fire doors and sleeves walls. Don't miss it because it doesn't come out from the front and the side is attractive. Currently, it is used as a general store called Vibresavi plus Meille.
The former Hayakawa branch is interesting to see from the side.

The former Hayakawa branch is a very interesting building to see from the side. The front is a typical Otaru rich store building, but as you go back, several buildings are added. Further ahead of the former Hayakawa branch, there are only tourist attractions such as this, so I don't think tourists will have the opportunity to visit it, but if you have visited Otaru several times, the former Hayakawa branch is recommended. that's it.

It is said that office stationery products are still sold in the store part "woodbone stone". A large "sleeve wall" for fire prevention from neighboring houses is created in the store part. When you turn sideways, there are two two-story residences of "wood" in the store part, followed by a stone warehouse behind it. Just in the stone store and warehouse, the wooden residence part is ...
The former Hayakawa branch that I arrived at 々 while searching for another Otaru City Dengryoken. It is an old store and a house that continues the appearance of the time when it was rebuilt in 1883, the following year when it was destroyed by the great fire of Inaho Town. The depth is amazing when viewed from the side! It is delicate whether the housing part is currently in a state of living, but you can see that it is a building with a large stone warehouse with a Marukoshi mark like the owner from Echigo. Fireproof reinforced earthenware fire door, Udatsuya, tea paper ...
