Unzendake Fatality Memorial Hall

The Shimabara Disaster Memorial Hall displays the disaster scene after the eruption of Puzhao Kenyake volcano in November 1990. The tragic eruption caused the village to be submerged by an average of 2.8 meters, and the houses were buried with only their roofs exposed. The ferocity of the volcanic eruption is truly presented. The museum showcases the power of nature, the people's resilience to disasters, and the ingenuity of coexisting with volcanoes through various display panels and experience facilities. The exhibition room in the museum has various models to introduce the information of the volcanic eruption. Visitors can also watch videos of the volcanic eruption and disasters such as lava and ash in the dome-shaped theater with a diameter of 14 meters. In addition, there is a video that introduces the changes of Shimabara after the volcanic eruption during the Kansei period and the life of the residents who live with the volcano in the expression of Kabuki.
