Built in 1928, the charming neo-classical building started out life as a manual telephone exchange before becoming British Malaya’s first mechanical exchange a decade later.The building was set to be demolished in the 1980s, but was ultimately saved in time by then prime minister Tun Mahathir, and the National Archives of Malaysia subsequently declared the building a historic landmark.Covering three floors, the museum adopts an interactive approach, helping keep the experience as fun as possible.There is a library on-site that is accessible to the public on weekdays. The museum is located next to the Maybank Numismatic Museum.

The museum is close to the purple bus route and can be reached through a small yard. There is no one in the kiosk, everything looks a little out of control and no one manages it. However, after going up the stairs, everything is in order. The museum is located in a corner and air-conditioned. Artifacts and displays on the first floor tell the history of telecommunications in Malaysia and the rest of the world. Computers and other modern equipment are available upstairs. Because I am a telecom practitioner, I am more curious. I arrived on Saturday morning. The ticket was 11 MYR for foreign adults and 6 MYR for locals, but I only received 6 MYR 😀. The first floor introduced the history of telecom development. The second floor free audio-visual hall was also very good.

The Telecom Museum walks near the canopy rainforest and opens from 9 to 17 o'clock every day. Ticket fees are five cents for local residents and ten cents for foreigners. Tourists can use the free network upstairs. The exhibits are very suitable for learning and are very helpful for studying the history of telecommunications. There are some interesting telecommunications projects, which are detailed in English and Malay. On the first floor, there are arts and crafts and exhibitions showing the telecommunications history of Malaysia and other parts of the world.

The location of the Telekom Museum is very easy to visit because it is located in the center of the city. Visitors can take the GOKL bus service.

Interestingly, there is a difference with the fireproof phone, it is made of solid steel 1 centimeter in size, which is able to withstand the impact of an explosion.

Visitors have the opportunity to see for themselves floodlights, fireproof telephones, wireless radio stations and communication mainframes.
