Meiguan Ancient Road has remained intact for more than two thousand years. Meiguan is a natural barrier across the provinces of Fujian and Guangdong. The mountainous landscape here is very steep and dangerous. Over the years, armies have fought for the control of this land. It was also a route that merchants in ancient Fujian and Guangdong were bound to traverse. During the Tang Dynasty, the construction of Meiguan Road began and connected the inland region and the "Maritime Silk Road". It has great historical significance for the promotion of the economies of Fujian and Guangdong.
