Ujung Kulon reminds me with social sciences subject which I learned during my primary school, a home for the endangered one horn Javanese Rhino. Located in Banten Province, around 6 hours from Jakarta. It’s funny how you look how close the location in the map but it needs 6 hours drive from Jakarta to Peucang Island, Ujung Kulon.
Once we reached the island, a different view from usual beaches that I’d been to. I felt more like in a jungle rather than beach. Of course the beach is clean and beautiful but the uniqueness of this island is the presence of wild animals. I saw monkeys running around, wild boars, deers, and lizards and they were just hanging around near the cottage, a new experience for me. Don’t worry those animals won’t harm you.

I think this place is so unique. If you’d like to tweak more, not only this place protects a number of endangered species but also filled with cool histories from a community of Hindus and Buddhist in Panaitan Island, Sultanate history in Sanghyang Sirah, and relics from Dutch Colonials around Cibom areas.
Beautiful scenic available on the shorelines, many giant rocks and corals from the eruption of Mt. Krakatau made it looks naturally breathtaking.
Ujung Kulon National Park has beautiful beaches and good for snorkle. My recommendations includes Sanghyang Sirah, Badul Island, Mangir Island, Oar Island, Peucang Island, Panaitan Island, and Handeleum Island (you can experience an Amazon in Cigenter River here). Well, Ciputih Beach is just as good as well.
However, I think this place is considered as a remote place, as the access from Jakarta to Desa Sumur were damaged and you have to rent a local boat to the western tip of Ujung Kulon National Park with approximately 3 hours travel time.
