Pompeii Archaeological Park

The person who gave the Chinese explanation to our group was an Italian named Butterfly. She spoke standard Chinese, having studied Chinese at a university in China and also at a famous university in Naples. Her explanation was very vivid and specific, and the communication was smooth. We gained a lot of knowledge and got a better understanding of the ancient city of Pompeii. Her friendly and amiable attitude left a very good impression on us all.



The Palace of Naples, built in the 17th century as the Palace of the Bourbon Dynasty, is now open to tourists as a small part of the National Library. We entered the main hall of the palace from the side door. The whole hall was constructed of snow-white and delicate marble. The broad staircase led from both sides to the second floor. The armrest of the staircase was carved with hollow patterns on one side and relief on the other side. Two huge statues of marble figures stood at the corner of the staircase. Standing on the corridor facing the gate on the second floor, you can imagine that the emperor and the empress were standing in the same position to greet the nobles who came to dinner by carriage from various mansions. The gorgeous and colorful skirts of the women's relatives dragged on the snow-white marble staircase and came up to say hello to the empress and queen. There are many rooms on the two floors, which can not be overstated by the brilliance of gold and blue. The murals on the ceiling, the huge mirrors with gilded edges, the dark red wallpaper, the warm yellow crystal chandeliers, as well as all kinds of precious paintings and exotic treasures placed in the room, open the windows, you can see the blue Mediterranean Sea in the distance, and see the luxury of noble life at that time. In this few open rooms, there are countless reception rooms for emperors and queens. From the layout of the rooms, there are some elegant symposia, some magnificent ballrooms, the emperor's office, even small theatres and so on. But it's a pity that we can't see the bedroom.


