Yidu is an ancient city with a history of over 2000 years. In addition to possessing a rich history and culture, it also has a beautiful natural landscape filled with the vibrant atmosphere of a modern city. The two banks of the Yuyang River can be found in Wangjiafan and Panjiawan within Yidu City, where a stone forest from the Ordovician period dating back from between 470 and 520 million years ago has been preserved. This is the densest and most well-preserved Ordovician stone forest to be discovered in China to date. The region has a gigantic cliff which stretches unbroken for 50 kilometers, which could even be called an Ordovician geological museum.
