Make sure you book a tour to Trinity College and The Book of Kells if you are in Dublin. So much history here.
This was my number one thing to see in Dublin. LOVED the library where the book is housed. It is fantastic, something you don't see every day. You will only get to see two pages of the book on the day you visit, and it is an amazing piece of work. It is really worth it to read up about it before you go and look at the pictures. It is a shame you cant see more, but it is very fragile and needs the protection.
Absolutely gorgeous. The big library is the best part. The books are so old it's unbelievable the condition.
Treasured manuscript from 9th century. Illuminations worth the visit.
One of the oldest manuscripts of the four gospels created by the Celtic monks
In Trinity College, the Old Library and the Book of Kells Exhibition -is a “must see” on the itinerary of all visitors to Dublin. Located in the heart of Dublin City, a walk through the cobbled stones of Trinity College Dublin will bring visitors back to the 18th century, when the magnificent Old Library building was constructed. Inside is housed the Book of Kells - a 9th-century gospel manuscript famous throughout the world. Visitors are welcomed by the friendly staff seven days a week.
A must-see, and for that reason, a must-get-there early. Beware of the fact that hours change seasonally. Students, make sure you have your ID to receive the discount! A really lovely experience, would have been less lovely if I hadn't arrived early and gotten a good place in line.
