Golden Heart Park, also known as Golden Heart Plaza, is located on the south bank of the Chena River. Inside the park is a huge bronze statue of E.T. Barnette, the city's founder. Near the park are the Fairbanks Convention Center and the Tourist Office's log cabin, as well as two local landmarks, a clock tower, and a landmark. There is also a time capsule in the square that was buried in 1987 and will not be opened until January 3, 2059. The park is a symbol of the dynamism of the fusion of Indians and whites.
