L’escaleta clearly deserves the 2 stars. I liked how chef Kiko uses local products but goes well beyond the classical Valencian dishes. The chef’s menu ‘ sabor’ , while being the smallest of the two menus offered, will already take you 3 hours to enjoy. Each dish gave me a nice blend of sour, salt and spice - chef Kiko likes to use kimchi, wild mustard and preserved vegetables, fish and meat. The service was very hospitable, and concluded by an invitation by the chef to visit his spotless, well organised kitchen. As the adagio of Michelin says: two stars means worth a detour and I would say, don’t mind if that detour takes you well off your planned road.

Difficult to find. Don't follow the indication by 'The Fork'. Just type the name of the restaurant on your SatNav. When you're there, you forget the time spent on the road. A warm welcome, delicious meals, excellent service. At the end, you get a chance to speak to the chef. Worth a second visite with the whole family. Prices are fair, which isn't always the case with a 2-star Michelin Restaurant. See you in summer.
A leisurely and impressive 2.5 hours for the smallwr menu which is already around 10 courses. It is fully surprise and you need to be open for things you may not order normally like oister, blood sausage etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit with outstanding service, ending with petit fours in the kitchen. Must try.
The creative and original dishes are all fantastic. The whole team - from the co-founding chef and sommelier, to Andres, and the entire team - are extremely talented knowledgeable, friendly, and provide the best experience. We go whenever we are in town or nearby, and we are thrilled to invite friends and family to join us in such a great culinary experience.I can’t recommend L’Escaleta more highly.
Everything was stellar. The creative incredible food, the wine pairings (and the sommelier’s knowledge), and the ambiance.
