This place is awesome. It has great serves and has a phoos ball table which you can play for free! It has tea, soda, juice and kava
Nice server, good smells and creativity in fudges, ice cream and they even had small kava chocolate bars. Kava was a treat in the special bowls and we also got a great lilikoi spritzer type drink.
We stopped in for some shave ice on our visit to Hawi. The staff was very sweet and shaved some ice for us, filled it with ice cream, and we sat on the lovely porch and enjoyed. Hawi is like a little hippie hangout!
This place was recommended to us by a local (Richard from Hawi Gallery) and we were told to ask for Tammy. He was there and he made kava, our first experience with this hawaiian tradition, by the way. I didn't like the taste, to be honest, but it was definitely good to try. My partner was so excited that we had to come back the other day and even now he feels sorry we didn't buy some kava to take home with us.
I have been on the Big Island for 5 days and hadn't yet gotten any shave ice, so when we noticed their sign on the way back from the Pololo Valley hike we stopped to get some. Sooooooo disappointed. It was more like a giant snowcone not shaved at all. The ice was very granular and fell out of the cup with each scoop. I didn't even finish half of it. The flavoring was okay, but keep looking if you want real shave ice. And they only had one size, for $5.
