We were greeted with warmth even though we arrived late due to the fact our gps was confused, it was dark, and we had never been to El Palancar. The staff took our lack of Spanish language skills with grace and even recruited someone who appeared to be a long-term customer to occasionally help translate as needed. We asked our waiter to choose our dishes and he chose well! We shared 3 tapas. They were all excellent but we thought the mushroom lasagne was outstanding. The others (I’m guessing here) were a salmon pate and a chorizo-filled filo pastry. My husband easily had the best pork dish he has ever had —grilled, marinated pork collar (again, guess) on a creamy, buttery, potato sauce and I had grilled cod. It was tender and grilled to perfection. We finished with a shared piece of orange cake with a thin, but rich and tasty layer of chocolate icing. Accompanied with wine, the bill was extremely reasonable particularly considering the quality of the service and the food. It was a true dining experience! Well worth the driving adventure and distance.

We went by reference and we know that sometimes the expectations we have are not always met, but this was not the case. The location is incredible... and thinking of a summer night, it must be spectacular. The food was very good, not to mention that some dishes were a bit cold when they arrived at the table. The meat dishes were very well served, the quantity indicated on the menu was at least 200g. Very tender and juicy. The stews were also delicious. The desserts were very good. To repeat for sure, at night and in summer...
Everything was great, the food, the waiters were all attentive to you at all times, but that doesn't detract from the 10 at all. The starters were not very big in size, but they were immense in quality.
Whether you like the idea of tapas or not, you absolutely have to let yourself be tempted by these small dishes presented in a choice of 1/2 portions (enough for 2) and try 3, 4 or even more of these delicious culinary preparations, which allow you to form a precise opinion of the talent and inventiveness of THE Chef: you will experience a moment of gastronomic happiness by discovering this harmony of tastes and these explosions of flavors.... In short, a restaurant not to be missed if you are passing through these somewhat lost regions of Extramadura, on the Ciudad Rodrigo coast.
Cozy atmosphere. Attentive and friendly staff, respecting space. Professionalism. Delicious dishes and perfect quantities. An experience to repeat.
