Pousada do Marvao

Lovely food in a great location. Expensive for what you got, but enjoyable all the same. Not a great deal of choice for vegetarians, but the asparagus risotto was very tasty. Very attentive waiter and great choice of wines.

We prebooked the restaurant ahead of our arrival and the food did not disappoint. Whilst it is quite a limited choice, there was enough to choose from. The home made soup was delicious and the main courses were both well presented and very tasty. The waitress was very attentive and the restaurant has a lot of ambiance. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area and we will be dining here again.

Restaurant at Pousada do Marvão, fantastic view, very friendly and attentive staff. Excellent food, we ordered Shark Alhada and Cheeks with mashed potatoes. Both dishes were excellent.

1) We made our reservation half an hour in advance, using the app. They made us wait... We arrived practically at the time of the initial reservation. When we were taken to the restaurant... there were several tables available, including one by the window, so there was no reason for us to have to wait. 2) They tell us about a tomato soup that is part of a dinner menu, which I'm not very interested in, as I don't like one of the ingredients in the main dish. I ask if the soup is exclusive to the menu. They answer yes. A short time later, a couple sat down behind them and had the nerve to offer the same soup, which was brought to the table, without them having to ask for the menu. 3) We asked for broken eggs. They serve us eggs and potatoes... 4) We say we don't want anything else and they stick the bill in front of us, without us having asked (restaurant with many tables available). 5) We hope we have learned our lesson. There is no shortage of alternatives in Marvão, with well-prepared food and good value for money... and much less clumsy service!
