Funing County is under the jurisdiction of Yancheng City in Jiangsu Province. It is situated in the central region of the Yangtze-Huai Plain, which is along the central part of the Jiangsu coastline. Funing is the birthplace of Huai opera and is well-known for its Huai opera townships. Funing has a long history and many ancient ruins. Some examples are the Dongyuan and Luzhuang Neolithic sites and Huaidong Old Temple. Funing contains many famous revolutionary sites. It is home to memorial sites such as the Memorial Tower to Soldiers in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the Iron Army Memorial Hotel.
