    Lovely architecture!

A beautiful cathedral. Just such a shame you can't go inside. Was quite busy here, also had the skeleton infrastructure of something like a train station next door. An interesting place to spend half ...

    A taste of Manchuria past

It was unique view of a Catholic church in China. Unfortunately we could not go inside due to maintenance. Even the view from outside was breathe taking. A surprise to see such a building in China.

    Stunning architecture

Stunning architecture, but it was closed during my visit on 2 January 2020. Walkable distance to the Zhongyang Pedestrian Street.

    Beautiful but closed...

...pretty definitively it seemed: there was police-like tape around it! However, it’s still worth seeing because it has an absolutely stunning exterior and looks wonderfully when lit up.

Introduction

Built in 1907, Saint Sophia Cathedral, with its notable onion-shaped dome, is a famous landmark in Harbin. Although this magnificent Byzantine-style building no longer serves as a church, it still attracts many visitors with its beautiful exotic architecture. Saint Sophia Cathedral is a fully-preserved Byzantine-style building in China. Although it was renamed Harbin Architecture Art Gallery in 1997, locals and tourists still prefer to call it "Sophia Cathedral."
