Chi Lin Nunnery and Nan Lian Garden
Chi Lin Nunnery and Nan Lian Garden are located at Diamond Hill in the north of Kowloon surrounded by high-rise apartments. It’s a serene and calm place to visit, such a strong contrast with the surrounding city area. The entire garden was designed in the style of the Tang dynasty. Beautiful flowers, lotus pond, plants, pavilions, bridge and buddha pagoda. It provides a tranquil retreat especially for busy working adults. I really like the ambiance here, peaceful, and relaxing. I could spend hours here just sitting, walking and admiring the fascinating stones, rocks, and wooden structures. It also featuring the Hall of Celestial Kings and Buddha Sakyamuni. There was a nice tea house and a vegetarian restaurant there.

The Zhilian Jingyuan in the rain is still solemn and beautiful Buddha is about to eat pancakes. I first encountered pancakes in Zhilian Jingyuan a few years ago. This is the origin of searching for pancakes on the Internet............................................................................................................ [Chinese Medicine Teaching Road] Eat more pancakes before and after Buddha's birthday. To protect the gods and prevent diseases and to bless the Buddha's birthday, you will see the trace of pancakes on the market. Many Zhaiyu have sold this traditional pancake with a dark green appearance. Before Buddha's birthday became a statutory public holiday, he was not a Buddhist. As long as you see the cakes listed, you know that the Buddha's birthday is approaching. The cakes are seasonal food, and there are not many sales after the birthday of the Buddha. The origin of the pancakes originated from the origin of eating pancakes before and after the birth of the plague Buddha. A more popular saying is that on the day of the Bath Buddha Festival more than 200 years ago, a monk took a bath by the small river in Longtang Tree Keng, Xiangshan County (now Zhongshan City), and his clothes just took off. Then a large python suddenly sprang out and attacked him, and the monk quickly pulled out his sword, cut the python into several pieces, and threw it in the river. At this time, a drunken old fisherman happened to pass by, and the fisherman grabbed the snake head and the snake tail, and danced drunk by the water. Under a dance, the python died and was reborn, and became a dragon. He vacated and left a few snakes by the water, and became a few small trees by the river. These are the origin of eucalyptus trees. At the turn of spring and summer, the local plague spread and many people died. There is a farmer living in poverty by the river without money to buy medicine. Because I smelled the aroma from the eucalyptus leaves, I felt very comfortable. I thought about whether it had medical effects. I picked some leaves and went home to mash them and cook them as tea. This eucalyptus tea drank for a few days and was actually sick. As a result, this matter was passed down to ten, ten hundred, villagers picked the loquat leaves to boil water for tea, and used loquat leaf juice to make cakes, becoming a popular local snack. It is spread down, the people believe that the pancake is the blessing of the Buddha, and every year on the eighth month of April, they are used to worship the Buddha with pancakes. It is spread down, and modern times there are Buddhists around the birthday, eating pancakes.
If you are a person who likes quietness. Zhilian Jingyuan is an excellent place to go. Especially if you want to say goodbye to the hustle and bustle of the city for a short time. It is not easy to have such a place with Chinese classical gardens as a architectural feature in a city like Hong Kong. Travel to Hong Kong, if time permits, you should visit here!
Lian Jingyuan (Chi Lin Nunnery) is a non-profit Buddhist charity in Hong Kong. It has a home for the elderly, Buddhist Zhilian Middle School, Buddhist Zhilian Elementary School, Zhilian Jingyuan Culture Department, Zhilian Jingyuan Night Academy, and Zhilian Jingyuan Library. In addition, Zhilian Jingyuan also holds regular legal meetings.
Zhilian Jingyuan is located in the downtown area of Diamond Mountain, which is definitely an oasis in the city! It’s a bit wrong to relax on holiday. The garden pool shows the traditional Chinese garden and Tang Dynasty architectural style design. The promenade and lotus ponds in the temple are all good for the shadows! There are flowers and wood, pavilions, lotus ponds and waterfalls in the entrance, and there are many wooden buildings in the park, including the noon bridge and the complete pavilion, the Temple of the Heavenly King.
