What people are saying:

The blowhole is really cool and it's a nice place to take in the beautiful views that Hawaii has to offer. Just a heads up though, it does get extremely windy!!

    Coastal Drive

Oh my goodness...the view from this point is breathtaking! We just wanted to drive the coast and stop to see the views along the way. This was our first stop out of Honolulu. You must visit this place...

    Very scenic

Actually seeing the blowhole in action can be hit or miss, depending upon the tide, but it's worth a stop just to enjoy the beautiful coastline. Be sure to walk to the far right to look down onto Ete...

Very powerful spray in the morning

Located near Sandy beach park. The power of the spray was better early in the morning than in early afternoon.

Additional Information

Halona Blowhole is one of eastern Oahu's most visited regular attractions. Discovered just before Sandy Beach Park, this "blowhole" is really the consequence of tidal powers dissolving the coral drift so as to make a give in where suction of ebbing waves occasionally sends a gush of water high into the air. The area is dominated by a scenic post that offers front line seats to this display, notwithstanding giving a portion of the best clearing perspectives of the Oahu drift to be found anytime around the island. Regardless of whether you are hovering around the Oahu on a visit, or are going to Sandy's or Makapuu Beach, take a couple of minutes to look at the show and the view from delightful Halona Blowhole.
