Our 45 minute guided tour was a bit over an hour, but it was the highlight of our trip to Honolulu. Thorough and interesting, never rambling, Hardy was probably one of the most knowledgeable guides we...
The folks at Iolani Palace are welcoming and friendly. The tour itself was a complete let down. I had bought a guide book about the Palace and read it before my visit and basically the tour was like...
Our guide Shar deftly shared her knowledge of Hawaii's history and love of her homeland as she showed us through the beautiful Iolani Palace. I enjoyed learning about Hawaii's past and present history...
Experience was ok. Started off great with social distancing tour groups, staff were friendly before stepping into the palace, we did the audio tour, so we were able to go at our own pace. Only bad e...
Beautiful palace and view into Hawaiian history. A visit to Iolani is a great chance to check out artifacts from the Hawaiian kingdom and learn about some of its rulers
The Iolani Palace has a lot of unique distinctions associated with it. Constructed in 1882 by David "The Merrie Monarch" Kalakaua, this beautiful building happens to be the only Palace in the United States. Additionally, it had electricity a full four years before the White House, Windsor Palace and the Imperial Palace of Japan, flushing toilets before any palace anywhere, and was the first place in Honolulu to have a working telephone. There are a number of beautifully landscaped gardens surrounding this historic building, and tours proceed throughout the complex every thirty minutes. Adorned with authentic Hawaiian memorabilia, tours of this facility provide both a lesson in history and a look at a wide range of native art.
Raining? Too bad. Take a tour of the only royal palace on U.S. soil. Find out what Hawaii was before we grabbed it.
Learn about Hawaiian Royalty and see the Iolani Palace that was ahead of its time. See the gifts given to the King and Queen from all over the world.
Historically a beautiful place to see how they lived and what happened to the queen while she was held captive in her own room.
The only palace in the United States! Go for the tour. ..it's worth it! Learn about the history and culture of Hawaii!
A very informative tour and experience. There's a guided tour and audio tour option available for purchase. Guided tours were only offered on a select few days and hours, audio tours not so much. I thought it was a bit pricey for the tours ($22 guided, $15 audio) but that's just me. All in all, beautiful palace and rich history!
