Mount Huangshan Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Huangshan
Huangshan, located in the southern part of Anhui Province, is one of the most famous mountainous scenic areas in China, and is also known as "the most beautiful mountain in China". Its steep peaks, peculiar pines, strange rocks, and unpredictable sea of clouds are hailed as the classic works of Chinese landscape. Below I will introduce you to the experience of playing in the Huangshan Scenic Area.
First of all, the magnificent peaks of Huangshan are one of the most attractive landscapes here. These include the famous "Four Wonders": strange pines, strange rocks, sea of clouds, and hot springs. During the tour, you can follow the steep mountain roads, climb the Lotus Peak, Guangming Peak, Shixin Peak, etc., and appreciate these unique natural landscapes from different angles. When you reach the top, you will deeply appreciate the magnificent scenery of "Climbing Huangshan, returning from Yueyang Tower empty-handed".
Secondly, the sea of clouds in Huangshan is known as the "first of the five wonders of Huangshan", with clouds and mists lingering, and the sea of clouds tumbling. When you are in it, you will feel like you are in a fairyland. Especially in the morning and evening, watching the sea of clouds is even more unique, as if you are in a fairyland.
In addition, Huangshan also has a rich and diverse plant landscape. In the lush scenery of the mountains, you can also appreciate various precious plants, such as Huangshan Rhododendron, Huangshan Ranunculus, etc., which give people endless surprises.
In addition, Huangshan also has many famous scenic spots, such as: West Sea, North Sea, Emei, Yuping, etc., each scenic spot has its unique charm. Here, you can also taste local delicacies on the top of the mountain and feel the different style of Huangshan under the sunset.
In general, the Huangshan Scenic Area is a tourist attraction where natural landscapes and human history are combined. It not only has magnificent natural beauty, but also has a long history and cultural heritage. Whether you are looking at the towering peaks or walking along the mountain trails, you can feel relaxed and happy, and forget the troubles of the world for a while. I hope you have the opportunity to go to Huangshan in person and experience this tranquility and magnificence.
Only after going to Huangshan, I realized that ink painting is too conservative
Only after going to Huangshan, I realized that ink painting is too conservative.
We caught the sea of clouds in Huangshan in February this year!
This is Huangshan after the rain, the mountain is full of clouds and fog. Under the wind, the clouds and fog sometimes cover the mountain and sometimes appear. Each interval is a few minutes, and you have to seize the opportunity to press the shutter during these few minutes! Taking a series of 'ink paintings' is really a unique experience
A snowfall turns Huangshan into a fairyland on earth! Huangshan, a place that people long for
Transportation: Self-driving is the most convenient, and the highway conditions around Huangshan are very good!
:Public transportation directly to Huangshan North Station, do not take the taxi at the door, if you have booked a hotel or homestay, let them help you book a car for 30 per person.
You can also ask the boss to help book a car for normal travel
Food: Huangshan roast cake is a must-eat, the meat is thick and juicy, crispy and delicious! Stinky mandarin fish depends on the individual, anyway, I vomited after eating it, and there is also hairy tofu
Accommodation: The accommodation conditions on the mountain are very good, and the price is not expensive! But only one bed is given, there is no need to stay on the mountain if you don't watch the sunrise.
Route: Yuping cableway, start from there, Bright Summit~Welcoming Pine~Then to the cableway, it's almost a day like this, walking around.
:There is less food on the mountain, bring your own food, there are
Burgers for sale at the bottom of Bright Summit, very cheap. If you are hungry, you can replenish energy there.
:If you want to go to other places to play the day after climbing Huangshan, you can go to Hongcun, or Xidi, Lucun, but the distance is a bit far, you can also stroll around the foot of Huangshan.
Hurry up and arrange it, go and see the last snowfall of 2023 with your loved one!
During the tour, remember to bring enough warm clothes, gloves, scarves,
Warm babies, etc. are all necessary. If you have a drone, be
Sure to bring it, the photos taken will be very beautiful!
Special Forces Huangshan Trip: Easy Pitfall Avoidance Guide
1️⃣Check the weather in advance
🌞The best travel time is after the snow clears. If you have plenty of time, it's recommended to go up the mountain before it snows. The closer to the travel date, the more accurate the weather forecast!
2️⃣Cable car maintenance time
🚠Yungu Cable Car Maintenance Period: November 23, 2023 - December 10, 2023
🚠Yuping Cable Car Maintenance Period: December 11, 2023 - December 29, 2023
🚠Taiping Cable Car Maintenance Period: January 2, 2024 - January 20, 2024
3️⃣Flexible accommodation options
🏨Hotel selection should be based on your route. Depending on your physical condition, you can make it to see the sunrise. It's recommended to bring a disposable four-piece set for convenience and hygiene.
4️⃣Multiple transportation options in Huangshan
✈️Airport: Tunxi Airport, Huangshan Airport with taxi and bus services
🚄Train, High-speed Rail Station: Huangshan Station, Huangshan North Station
🚌Bus: Available for city travel, just scan the code to pay, very convenient
🚕Taxi: Starting price is 6R during the day, make sure the driver uses the meter
🚕Online Car Hailing: You can see the estimated price and route planning
5️⃣What to wear in Huangshan in winter?
🧤The three-layer outdoor clothing method is essential, and be sure to wear a hat and gloves. Remember: you won't feel cold while moving, but you will feel cold no matter how you dress when you stop.
🔔Sweat-wicking inner layer: Synthetic fibers, wool, or silk tights
🔔Insulating middle layer: Fleece, wool sweater, down jacket as a second choice
🔔Wind and rainproof outer layer: Any windproof clothing will do (for good photos)
👟Shoes: Hiking shoes are the first choice, otherwise comfortable sports shoes. If you feel slippery, buy ice claws on the mountain
6️⃣Mountain bus is 19 yuan
🚌No matter where you come from (Tangkou Town, South Gate of Huangshan), you need to take the 19 yuan mountain bus. The bus transfer center is hard to find, it's recommended to use walking navigation (Xinguoxian Zhaixi Transfer Center). The downhill bus will stop at several points, which are displayed on the back of the ticket, don't get off at the wrong stop.
7️⃣Food and drink on the mountain are guaranteed
🍱Supplies on the mountain are hard to come by, so it's understandable if they're expensive. You can bring your own self-heating rice, biscuits, etc. Be sure to bring a thermos, there's free 40-degree warm water in the mountain's public toilets.
🔴Finally, climbing with a heavy load is tiring, it's best not to bring a suitcase. There are stairs to the nearest hotel after getting off the cable car, just bring a change of underwear.
I wander in the mountain ravines for thousands of miles, my life is free as the wind,
The mountain does not see me, I go to see the mountain~

Hongcun Village Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
The ancient charm of Huizhou, the beauty of Hongcun
In the ancient villages of southern Anhui, Hongcun is undoubtedly the most famous and influential one. It is surrounded by mountains and rivers, with a long ancient charm, revealing a strong artistic atmosphere everywhere. Walking into Hongcun is like walking into an ancient dream.
The stone road is winding and winding, and on both sides are the well-arranged Huizhou-style buildings, with white walls and black tiles, and every place exudes the charm of history. The residents here are hospitable, they will tell stories about Hongcun, as if they have traveled back to the old times.
In Hongcun, the most iconic sign is Nanhu Lake at the entrance of the village. The lake is like a mirror, reflecting the surrounding Huizhou-style buildings and the distant mountains. When there is sunlight, the lake is golden ripples, which is breathtakingly beautiful; in the rainy day, it is a charming landscape painting.
In addition to the scenery of Nanhu, the Moon Marsh shaped like a crescent is also a great attraction. Every tourist who comes to Hongcun will take a commemorative photo here.
As the New Year approaches, Hongcun also has many folk customs. Holding a lantern and shuttling through the ancient village, the strong New Year atmosphere lights up the streets and alleys.
In a place of absolute devotion, I dreamt not of Huizhou
In Huizhou, what I remember most is Hongcun. This is not my first time in Hongcun, but the last time I was here was in 2012. Yes, this visit is a return to the old place after 11 years. I still vaguely remember the scenery here, remember the photos taken on the Nanhu Bridge, which I used as my profile picture on the school network for a while. I remember the photos left by the moon marsh, and the Hui-style buildings with pink walls and black tiles, which bring me back to that green university era~
Once again in Hongcun, retracing the path I once walked, the boy of that year has finally grown up~
.
Here are a few small things I recommend doing in Hongcun
1⃣️Take a photo of the beautiful scenery of the Hui-style architecture reflected in the water of the Moon Marsh
2⃣️Have a pot of tea in Hongcun, don't miss the top ten famous tea Huangshan Maofeng
3⃣️If you can go in November-December, go on Wednesday, free admission, save 100
4⃣️Go to the Tiantang Restaurant for a bowl of local chicken soup, it's very fresh
5⃣️Take a photo of the persimmon tree in the autumn scenery of Hongcun, everything goes well
6⃣️Go to Nanhu Academy, feel the spirit of this place
7⃣️Go to eat stinky mandarin fish, chestnut roasted chicken, hairy tofu, feel the Hui cuisine
8⃣️Stay next to Hongcun, sleep in the Hui-style architecture under the stars
9⃣️Go to the nearby Tachuan, Lucun, Xidi for a turn, it's beautiful
🔟Go to the Hongcun post office to buy a postcard, send it to your future self

📍Hongcun, Yi County, Huangshan City, Anhui
🚗Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai and Jiangxi can drive there
🚄Take the high-speed train to Huangshan North Station, there is a direct bus from the high-speed train station to Hongcun
⏰The driving time is 3-5 hours, the high-speed train departs from Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai for 2-4 hours
Country in the painting - Hongcun
November is the most beautiful season in Hongcun. This year the weather is relatively warm, so the autumn colors in Ta Chuan are not strong enough. It takes more than 2 hours to get to North Huangshan from Hangzhou. It takes an hour to get to Hongcun by taxi. Stay in a homestay in the scenic area, which is cheap and good. Take a rest and stroll around the street, and have Huizhou cuisine for dinner. The night view of Yuezhao is recommended. Visit the scenic spots in the morning of the second day, check out at noon, and head straight to Huangshan...
How long would you stay in such a beautiful village
Hongcun, known as the 'village in Chinese painting', is quiet, peaceful, and beautiful, a typical example of Huizhou architecture.
~
Beautiful natural scenery: Hongcun is surrounded by water systems, such as Nanhu and Yuezhao, making it a village like in a painting. You can stroll in the ancient village, enjoy the natural scenery of Hongcun, and enjoy the quiet rural atmosphere.
~
Local gourmet food: Hongcun also offers a rich food experience. You can taste local Huizhou cuisine and special snacks, such as Huizhou stewed pigeon, Yi County tripe, Huizhou beef soup, etc. These delicacies will add more wonderful memories to your trip.

Xidi Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Huangshan/Yellow Mountain, Anhui, China
Getting There - Speed train to Huangshan Bei (North) station or fly to the Huangshan Airport. Then taxi or Didi to your hotel.
Attractions - Take a leisurely walk down Tunxi Old Street and enjoy the local cuisine, or visit one of the many restaurants or bars. FFFFF sandwich cafe has the best jaffles in town. Or visit Yungpu or Yungpi scenic area of Huangshan South scenic area (Yellow Mountain) via shuttle bus and then cable car up the mountain. We left our luggage at a local cafe and our luggage was well looked after. You can also visit the hot spring scenic area near the Huangshan South scenic area. If you enjoy visiting ancient villages, Hongcun and Xidi are worth visiting.
Hotels - Shanshui Boutique Hotel 山水间喜新恋旧 is a Japanese style hotel with Sushi restaurany and friendly, and helpful English speaking receptionist , Xiao Xi, on the shopping street and about 300m from Tunxi Ancient street. We also stayed at the Hongcun Scenic Hotel inside the Hongcun Scenic area. You can also stay on the mountain in Yungpi or Behai hotel, but it is quite a walk to get there, so pack lightly if you decide to stay on the mountain. There is also a nice hotel at the foot of Yungpu cable car area, but I don't know the name of the hotel.
Food & Restaurants - Too many in the area to single one out, many ranging from Korean, Japanese, street food to local Chinese cuisine.
Shopping - Local trinkets, tea, clothes and jewellery, depending on your taste.#newyearadventure
Xidi Ancient Village | This once-forgotten place is the distant land we yearn for
Xidi Ancient Village is located to the east of Yi County in Anhui Province, within the Huangshan Scenic Area of Yi County, Anhui Province. Covering an area of nearly 13 hectares, the village has a history of over 950 years and currently has 3 ancestral halls and 1 archway from the 14th to the 19th century, as well as 224 ancient residential buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties. Xidi Village has preserved the typical style of ancient Ming and Qing villages to this day, earning it the nickname 'a living museum of ancient residences'.
Entering the village, you are greeted by a tall archway, and as you walk along the main road by the lake, the ancient waterwheel turns slowly and heavily. A pond of clear water reflects the black-tiled and white-walled Hui-style architecture, perfectly blending with the golden rapeseed flowers in front of the doors, presenting a beautiful and enchanting Jiangnan ink painting. Along the way, there are many students and artists painting en plein air, each focused on their brushwork, capturing these beautiful scenes on canvas...
Compared to the bustling Hongcun, Xidi feels more authentic and simple, with a much lower degree of commercialization. The village has one main street, which is a commercial street, but beyond that, most of the inhabitants are locals and there are quite a few guesthouses. Walking through the narrow alleys and lanes, you can look up to see tall horse-head walls and white walls and green tiles covered with moss, adorned with festive and auspicious red lanterns🏮. Here, you will forget the passage of time and only feel that the years are peaceful...
If you are tired of the hustle and bustle of the city, Xidi is a great place to visit, and it won't be overcrowded even on holidays. Walking on the bluestone-paved roads through the alleys, you can see these pink walls and black tiles that have witnessed a thousand years of historical changes; in the evening, buy a pot of locally brewed rice wine, sit by the window of your room for a drink, and watch as the red lanterns on the street light up one by one, enjoying the utmost comfort.
Main attractions of Xidi:
Hu Wenguang Archway, Zhuimu Hall, Duyi Court, Jing'ai Hall, Zoumalou, Kuanggu Zhai, Ruiyu Court, Dujing Hall, Taoli Garden, West Garden, East Garden, Dunren Hall, Lufu Hall, Qingyun Xuan, Yingfu Hall, Yanggao Hall, Shangde Hall, Dafu Residence, Diji Hall, etc.
Recommended sightseeing route:
Zoumalou, Mingjing Lake, Hu Wenguang Archway, Ruiyu Court, Zhuimu Hall, West Garden, East Garden, Hu's Ancestral Hall, Gula Bridge.
Best photography spots:
Walking to the right along Mingjing Lake, you can see a large waterwheel and rapeseed fields, with the time-worn Ming and Qing buildings opposite, the red couplets on the door lintels against the white walls, and a large expanse of golden rapeseed flowers at the door, which are very photogenic. In addition, each alley in Xidi has its own characteristics, and it's quite atmospheric for portrait photography, so give it a try!
Transportation tips:
The ancient villages in southern Anhui are quite scattered, so it's best to drive there. Alternatively, now that the Hangzhou-Huangshan high-speed train is in operation, you can take the high-speed train to Huangshan North and then rent a car or charter one. Xidi Ancient Village is not very large, and a general tour of 3.4 hours is enough. Of course, if you have time, you can stay in the scenic area, taste the local cuisine, learn about the local customs, and also see the beautiful night scenery🌃!
Xidi Ancient Village
* Price: 94 RMB per person (half price for student ID)
* Navigation address: You can directly navigate to Xidi Ancient Village, there is an open-air parking lot outside the scenic area
* Recommended visiting time: Half a day to one day
* How to get there: You can take the Hongcun scenic area commuter bus from Huangshan North Station, get off at Xidi after two stops, which takes about 2 hours
Featured attractions:
* Rural landscapes such as seas of rapeseed flowers, strolling through the ancient village is like accidentally entering a rural landscape painting
* Xidi Ancient Village has less commercial atmosphere than Wuyuan in Jiangxi, and there are relatively fewer tourists. Many small alleys in the ancient village are very quiet, giving a serene feeling of Jiangnan
Visiting tips:
* Xidi Ancient Village in spring is rainy, but with frequent showers, it is recommended to carry an umbrella. If it rains, the scenery of Xidi Ancient Village will be even more charming
* When visiting Xidi Ancient Village, you can stroll around the ancient village, admire the ancient architecture and rural scenery,
* If time allows, you can plan to spend half a day to a day in Xidi Ancient Village to experience the tranquil rural charm
In the ancient village, the recommended delicacy is stinky tofu, which is a kind of food that smells a bit stinky but tastes very delicious. It is sold in the scenic area for 15 RMB
Misty rain in Huizhou, walking through Xidi ancient town in the rain
The drizzle adds a poetic touch to the journey through Xidi.
The ancient town is as tranquil as an ink painting in the rain, with houses, stone paths, and raindrops intertwining.
Although Xidi has become commercialized, its original ecological atmosphere remains. Strolling along the creek behind the town, listening to the rain, one can feel the quietude of the ancient town.
The ancient viewing platform is a must-visit spot, overlooking the village in the misty rain like a painting. After entering the scenic area, walk straight along the creek on the far right to see the steps leading to the viewing platform.
Then there's wandering through the alleys off the main street, strolling in the original residential alleys. These alleys are narrow and deep, flanked by well-arranged houses, with ancient lanterns hanging on the door lintels, revealing traces of the years.
Taste Wang Yitiao's wontons with chopped pepper sauce, delicious in flavor.
tips: Until March 31, 2024, there is no admission fee every Wednesday, for the Huizhou Yellow Tourism Mini Program.

Rapeseed flowers-Huizhou
They are as graceful as a watercolor painting, reflecting the typical spring atmosphere in the area. Early spring is still chilly with cold breezes and showers, and the rapeseed flowers are like the ushers bringing the warm spring. The best time is Mid-March to April. The best thing about this adventure is that you can view this whilist in a boat along the river.Nothing beats this feeling.I highly recommend this place
The ancient city of Huizhou is the epitome of modern people's imagination of ancient Huizhou life. It cannot be said that the cultural meaning of ancient Huizhou is much stronger than other places. Walking in the streets, the ancient buildings that have been preserved are telling the history of Huizhou.
I have never been a dream, I have no dreams to Huizhou. This is a thousand years of singer. For thousands of years, countless people have a deep love for Huizhou. She is like a black and white ink painting. She is exquisite and simple, it seems that every building They are telling the story of the ancient Huizhou people.

Anhui Chengkan| The most worthwhile treasure secret in Huizhou ancient village
|The most worthwhile treasure secret in Huizhou ancient village. Anhui Chengkan| The most worthwhile treasure secret in Huizhou ancient village
✨I would like to call Chengkan the ceiling of Anhui ancient villages
The scenery of Chengkan is indeed better than Hongcun without being overly commercialized, giving a more atmospheric and experiential feel when touring
Chengkan satisfies all your fantasies about Huizhou ancient towns
🍃Small bridges and flowing water, winding paths leading to secluded spots, large courtyards, ancient trees and lotus ponds..... Wandering through the carved beams and painted buildings, the ancient lanes
The distant white clouds and beautiful peaks are like a painting, serving as a clear backdrop. At the end of the alley, a sudden open view of the ancient bridge and lotus pond comes into view. Crossing the ancient bridge, you can see Anhui's famous rural landscape "Sun-drying Autumn"
✌️Chengkan, originally named Longxi, is known as "the first village in the south of the Yangtze River" and "the hometown of national treasures". It is the only well-preserved Ming Dynasty ancient village in the country, gathering different architectural styles of Huizhou and "three carvings", and also has the beautiful wish for tourists of "touring Chengkan without any obstacles in life"
⛳Address: No. 78, Baolun Road, Huizhou District, Huangshan City, Anhui Province
🎫Ticket: 107 (discounts available for staying in Chengkan)
🚃Transportation: There is a passenger transport center next to Huangshan North Station to go to Chengkan
Leaving blank is also a lifestyle‖Chengkan
16 kilometers away from Huangshan North Station, it has the reputation of "No mountain in the world after climbing Huangshan, no pit in life after visiting Chengkan". Chengkan is famous for its "wind" and "water", here preserves the traditional white walls and black tiles of Huizhou dwellings, the beautiful lotus pond moonlight of Pinghu stone bridge, and the characteristic autumn drying square makes it beautiful and spicy.
This is selected by National Geographic as the modern "Qingming Shanghe Tu"
Walk through Chengkan without pits in life, this seriously underestimated ancient town is not inferior to Hongcun, it is very comfortable without being commercialized. If you come to Huangshan, you must go to Chengkan.
Transportation: You can take a bullet train from Shangrao to Huangshan North Station for 48 minutes. After getting off the train, you can charter a car or take a taxi to Chengkan (30 minutes away).
Travel Guide
1 Chengkan is a small and sparsely populated scenic spot, it is not inferior to Tuling and Hongcun. Instead of crowding people, it is better to come here to feel the comfort of the real Jiangnan.
2 You can stay in Chengkan scenic spot at night, the cost performance is relatively high, so you can get up early to take pictures basically no one!
3 Hongcun still retains the ancient houses of the Song and Qing Dynasties, which makes people dream back to the Song Dynasty. 4 Here is full of Chinese style elements, small bridges and flowing water, spring river water warm duck prophet, bamboo raft ripples, thousand-year-old houses, Jiangnan water towns and other words can be found here.
Photography
1 Strongly recommend to take pictures of national style Hanfu here, very out of the picture
2 Long focus and drone shooting from different angles are also very out of the picture
Ticket‖Chengkan ticket 100 people can enter multiple times Chengkan
This ancient village that 90% of people don't know about, you must come!
Most people only know about Hongcun in Anhui, including myself, but it wasn't until I came here that I realized how unforgettable Chengkan is.
It is said that this is a gossip feng shui village with a unique name, "You Cheng Kan Yi Sheng Wu Kan", which has a special meaning. It is not as commercialized as Hongcun and has a more primitive atmosphere. There are also very few people, truly avoiding the crowds. It is not very big inside, and you may not need to stay in a hotel. You can finish exploring in two hours. We stayed at Shude Tang Hotel and felt that the privacy was very good. Tourists cannot enter from outside, and you can take photos all day inside.
Living here, you can occasionally hear the sound of a bell ringing. Upon inquiry, I found out that it is the "Peace Bell" in the scenic area. When it rains, it is very quiet here and there are not many tourists. You can only hear the occasional calls of the old actor geese brothers.
Perhaps, for people like us who enjoy peace, leisure, and admiring scenery, this place is just perfect. After the rain, mist lingers around the distant mountains, reflecting against the white walls and tiles, while nearby trees are lush and green, and lotus leaves emerge from the water. Sitting at the hotel entrance, one can spend a whole day watching a few big white geese swim around. Here, wearing a qipao and taking photos, holding an oiled-paper umbrella and strolling around, one can easily capture the feeling of Jiangnan's misty rain.
Staying at the hotel includes tickets and breakfast. If you come to play, the ticket seems to be 100/person. The food at the hotel is quite delicious, and the breakfast is simple and exquisite. There are many rooms of different sizes and styles, with prices above 1000. If it weren't for going to other places, I really want to stay for a few more days. We also took a lot of photos, and it feels like we can't post them all.
If I have the chance, I would like to bring my parents here for a visit. It's a great place to relax and unwind.
