About Huantai

Huantai (桓台) is located at the meeting point between the mountainous area of central Shandong and the North Shandong Plain, to the north of Central Shandong Province, north of Zibo City. Its location places it in the warm humid continental climate. Reed paintings of Mata Lake, grass wickerwork and sugared lotus root are among the well-known locally produced items that can be found here. Famous scenic spots include the Mata Lake Tourist Area, Wang Yuyang’s Hometown Scenic Area and Hongliang Lake Park.

Mata Lake is located in Qifeng Town, in the northeastern area of Hengtai County, Zibo City. In 1995, the Shandong government listed the area as a provincial level scenic district. The elevation is low. The lake is a natural formation from being a junction for Xiaofu River, Wu River, and Zhulong River. The water is green, and the lake is composed of over two thousand pipes intersecting like a net. The lake area has beautiful scenery, with many famous historical sites. Throughout every year, many national and international visitors come here for sightseeing.
