Hunyuan Photo

About Hunyuan: Hunyuan County is in northeast Shanxi Province in the middle reaches of the Hun River, a tributary of the Sanggan River. Hunyuan, “source of the Hun,” gets its name because it encompasses the source of the Hun River. Mount Heng (“Permanent”), one of the “Five Great Mountains,” is located to the south of the county seat. The Hengshan (“Mount Heng”) Scenic Area comprises the scenic areas of Tianfengling (“Heavenly Summit Peak”) and Cuiping (“Jade Screen”) Peak. Not only is the natural scenery beautiful, but the location was also important in the rise of Taoism, and there are many Taoist temples and observatories on the mountain.
